A federal jury has found Project Veritas, a conservative group often accused of using deceptive tactics, liable for violating wiretapping laws and misrepresenting itself in an undercover effort to target Democratic political consultants.
Jurors in Washington on Thursday awarded $120,000 to a member of Democracy Partners, co-founded by self-described progressive strategist Robert Creamer.
Democracy Partners claimed it had been infiltrated by a Project Veritas operative who lied about her name and background to obtain an internship during the 2016 presidential campaign, and secretly recorded conversations while working there.
The firm and Creamer said Project Veritas used "heavily edited" footage in videos that falsely suggested they conspired to incite violence at then-Republican candidate Donald Trump's rallies and schemed to promote voter fraud.
According to the complaint, the espionage cost the plaintiffs, who supported Trump's Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, at least $500,000 of contracts.
Project Veritas said it did nothing wrong and will appeal…

Agreed. If PV didn’t lose some of these once in a while, then they aren’t trying hard enough.

I don’t think he is charged with anything in Washington,
D. C. right now.
He’s under fire in New York. Perhaps I’m forgetting
something.
His attorneys could as for a change of venue, but I’m not
sure a judge would allow it. By rights, I think there’s
a very good cause for requesting that.

You all have faith in the ‘legal’ system?

Jurors in Washington... DC should not be permitted to have any local courts. DC is a cesspool of liars and government sycophants, and any case tried there is automatically garbage.

The jury somehow found that journalist have a “fiduciary responsibility” to those they interview.I imagine they thought the fiduciary duty arose when she went to work at Democracy Partners.

Jurors in Washington...
This was in the Swamp, Washington, D.C., not Washington state. Conservatives groups need to get the hell out of the Swamp. If we learned anything from the Jan. 6th set up, don't protest there either. This must be posted: KEEP OUT OF THE SWAMP.

Any jury in D.C. is going to vote against any conservative. Has nothing to do with the quality of the lawyer whatsoever.

Project Veritas used “heavily edited” footage in videos
A couple of years ago when Planned Parenthood officials were recorded bragging about selling baby body parts, the local news always referred to the clips as “heavily edited” as if what we were seeing with our own eyes and hearing with our own ears wasn’t real.

But it's OK for FBI to infiltrate an organization and not only observe but to encourage and facilitate illegal activities?

I can’t imagine this verdict surviving the appeal. It would be devastating for anyone who does undercover journalism investigations.

“Jurors in Washington on Thursday awarded $120,000”
That wouldn’t even cover a fraction of legal fees.
Clearly there were no damages and this is a type of show trial.

I imagine they thought the fiduciary duty arose when she went to work at Democracy Partners.
And yet, no such fiduciary duty seems to arise or even be expected to arise when a RINO or Assistant Democrat (although I repeat myself) goes to work at any Conservative or Republican organization, including (and especially) a Republican Presidential Administration!!
