The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Thanks, FRiend!
I agree fully.....this is not a storm to fool yourself by. Storm surge is what usually kills people plus if you have to be rescued you’re endangering the Resue crews lifes........this storm is going to plant a lot of water on already wet grounds....run off will be huge as well near rivers etc. where this hits along th coast esepcially.
Right.
Thanks! I was wondering where NN’s thread was. Looks like the latest track from the Hurricane Center is now closer to last evening’s Euro Model with Ian making landfall just to the south of TBA. Better than the last track for TBA, but now shows it coming ashore as a major hurricane. Very bad news for Manatee County if this track holds. Now that Ian’s eye is just north of Cuba, will be interesting to see which track it takes.
I did the same with the other new thread in “Breaking News.”
I couldn’t find it for the longst time!
....meanwhile here’s 3 good live cams of St. Augsutine beach with sound

Which lake? I used to live on Lake Howard back in the late 60s.
Pace yourself my FRiend. My prayers are with you.
My son’s father lives in Tarpon- he left for Georgia yesterday. He’s never evacuated- bad feeling this time.
Thanks, FRiend. Listening to Top Gov presser right now.
Link?
They are not only putting themselves in danger but they are also endangering those who might later be called upon to come out and rescue them. That should be reason enough for everybody deemed to be in an evacuation zone to get out of there.
I live on Lake Hamilton on the east side of Winter Haven. I know the Lake Howard area.
I had a friend back in grade school that lived on Lake Hamilton. Fond memories.
NHC Just said:
Cat 3 will hit Venice Fl. directly 125 mile sustained winds.
Current Ian landfall prediction is Venice in 35 hours, at 125mph.
Time to get outta Dodge. Prayers for all of you in the path of Ian! We have postponed our trip down to Florida from next week Wednesday. We’ll wait to see how neighbors fare and if they need anything. Plan is to bring cases of water for everyone in our building in Sarasota, when we head down.
My daughter and family are gonna ride it out in High Springs. It will be downgraded by then I hope, but still bad. They have a generator, well water, a stocked pantry and a mini-excavator (for tree removal) if needed. She says they will be fine. I hope so. She moved to Florida in 1995 so this is not her 1st rodeo...
Praying for everyone in the path of the storm.
Why not just measure windspeed in mph or kph?
Knots, which can be converted to mph.
