The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Problem is where do they go? My guess would be a long way from home.Especially, if you put loads of people on the road all at once. If it was me I would have gotten out over the weekend. A lot more prudent.

Im going back to bed. We appear to be dodging the bullet although the eye will be West of Key West(I still don’t know how far west) at around 8 PM tonight. So lots of activity ahead for the Keys with a strong storm before the sheer hits.

The graphic you saw looking ominously close to Key West—some images appear distorted due to distance, etc. On the other hand, it does appear the storm track has jogged east a bit, but is still west of Key West. If you see the image again, let me know.

It’s all good, we knew what you meant, and it’s early.
Current track is slightly better for you? Still concerning, but not quite as bad?

I saw the hurricane warning for your area. Storm is moving due N at this time. With the angle of the FL peninsula, it makes sense to include all areas between current position and anticipated landfall location around Tampa Bay.
Hurricane Charley...perfect example where people south of Tampa Bay thought the storm would ease on by. Until Charley turned and went inland south of Tampa Bay.
Be prepared. Hope for the best.

WFTV (Orlando) is saying with the new 5am track central Fla. will be in 40-80 mph sustained winds. They said a lot of models are bringing it up I-4 and then it lifts to the north. We are being told to board up windows and be in place by 9 am Wednesday. It is coming inland faster with the current track.

Have friends on Longboat Key who I’m certainly concerned about. Smart people that will do all they can do to prepare, so there’s that.
Selfishly, I’m supposed to fly out of PBI early Thursday. Starting to think that flight will be cancelled.

Only problem is the track of the storm will sorta be following you. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale might be a better move.
