The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Naples cam still up. Pier still standing.

I don’t normally pay attention to these things but have a friend in the area this time. If I were pretty much anywhere in the state considering evacuation the day before yesterday and I used the NHC forecast, I probably would have made a very wrong decision.
“That’s the state run company. They roughly ensure 25% of the Tampa market.”
Set up by the state but not run by the state. Premiums are paid into company and claims to be paid out of their reserves.
The waterlevel/wave height keeps getting higher. I'm glad they finally kicked the stupid people off the pier.
I saw those fools in the water earlier. The water level is visibly higher now, and it’s not just the incoming tide. Next high tide is 3pm today in the area. Not good to combine incoming tide with incoming hurricane. Prayers for all.
What does it cost to insure your house against these monsters?
Just read this recently (actually listened to it on Audible). All of the condo issues still persist - the $ amounts are just different. When the hurricane hits he has some pretty chilling imagery. The olive rolling off the mantle eg.
A gift from heaven is right! As my sister would say, “There are no quinkie-dinkies (coincidences.)” The signs are there for those who see.
Super scary here in Cape Coral. We hear the wind whipping and whistling. Water water everywhere. Eyewall should be hitting us any time now. Just passing over Sanibel. Power flickering.

“Hah, still will be the taxpayer as the backstop.”
Assets: $10 Billion
I was, too. The Sanibel cams were long gone except for that one, but it bit the dust some time ago. Now, how long will the Naples cam last? Last time I looked, Ian had a very impressive eyewall and looks like it will move on in with eyewall intact as a cat 4/5. This is one terrifying storm.
Super scary here in Cape Coral.

What is your elevation?
how many people stayed?
I’m sub 2k, in the sticks. Miami closer to 7k.
Funny, my Mama always called them co-inky-dinks! She was famous for making new silly words from normal ones.
“Pier still standing.”
I will be surprised if the pier is not damaged soon.
Good God! I had no idea it had gotten that bad. We can take DiSantis off any campaign trail for a while. He is going to a very busy man. Floridians, when praying, should thank the Lord he is there. Imagine the dream team of Biden/Gillum tasked with bringing Florida back!
