Remember the Constitution? Yeah that thing, the ONLY legal bulwark of freedom against the tyranny of the federal government.
Might be a good idea to REMEMBER the Constitution and ENFORCE the Constitution.
I remember the hoopla over the lightbulbs. People would buy the old lightbulbs in mass quantities because they were thinking it was a rip off. Now people have them up their attic just collecting dust because they know the LEDs are the perfect light. This is just nonsense scared of change. And it’s a vicious cycle that goes on anytime something changes. It will continue until the end of time.
> TOTALLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!! <
According to the Constitution, ratification of a treaty requires 2/3 of the Senate to vote yes. They got their 2/3.
But I still think you’re right. This treaty will evidently force domestic companies to do (or not do) certain things. No treaty can force such compliance! That would take a law passed by both Houses, and then signed by the President. We sure don’t have that here.
So if this vote is just a meaningless gesture, okay. But if anyone tries to enforce this treaty, the courts should slap them down, hard.
Yeah, well that 'treaty' thing and the Senate having to ratify them by a 2/3 majority is also in the constitution, so there's that.
Enforcement is up to us. But will we ever do what is necessary? Probably not in our lifetime.
How is it unconstitutional?
Our rulers want us poor and obedient—and could not care less what is written on pieces of paper.
It’s a foolish, anti-US treaty, and GOP senators should be ashamed, but it’s not unconstitutional (Article II, Section 2, Clause 2) with 2/3 of the senate voting for it. I think it would another 2/3 vote to amend or terminate it.
We’re no longer a republic.
Constitutional is now whatever Deep State says it is.
