Senate ratifies climate treaty that will raise cost of home appliances 'The last thing the American people need right now is another household necessity rising in price'

The Senate on Wednesday ratified an international treaty that mandates nations to phase out hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to protect the earth’s ozone layer, which will impose new standards that will raise the costs of air conditioning and refrigeration.

A group of 50 Senate Democrats and 19 Republicans voted to pass the Kigali Amendment to the 1987 United Nations (UN) Montreal Protocol. The amendment, which 27 Republicans voted to oppose, will limit the production and use of HFCs, man-made chemicals that are primarily used for cooling and refrigeration, by 85% over 15 years, which could substantially increase consumer and business costs in related industries.

Now, no getting hysterical. They don’t want you back in a teepee. They want you dead. For Gaia sacrifice is necessary.

Us too. Had to replace the HVAC early in June. The prior one lasted a good 18 years.

That’s just great. Let’s hope nobody puts a new refrigerator close to the stove.

Remember the Constitution? Yeah that thing, the ONLY legal bulwark of freedom against the tyranny of the federal government.

Yeah, well that 'treaty' thing and the Senate having to ratify them by a 2/3 majority is also in the constitution, so there's that.

Hopefully this system will last until I no longer need Air Conditioning!...................

You miss the point entirely and have ill-chosen your example to make your point. This is one of the many examples of the Brave New World’s outlawing an older technology.

Good luck with your fawning misinformation about newer technology. Before long, we’ll need those older technologies but we’ll be screwed because they won’t exist and can’t be ginned up quickly enough when these great new technologies fail. Like in Texas last year ...

And, BTW, LEDs suck. Most people have figured this out. Do you by chance work for the LED industry? They don’t last as long as was promised and damage eyesight. Try driving at night for long periods with LED lights glaring in your eyeballs. You might not be so sanguine when you go to the opthamologist and are told there’s nothing they can do because some idiot who worships new technology kept shining LEDs in your face. And then there’s the question of disposal once they stop working, which usually isn’t very long.

Keep your new technologies, and stop trying to talk down those who don’t trust them.

Just go back to ammonia, who cares if people die every time there is a refrigerant leak, at least no O3 Molecules will be turned into breathable oxygen.

According to local media, the “correct” temperature is whatever the average high temperature is.

Case in point, the average high temperature is 85 today, but the forecast is 90 degrees. Instead of saying that today’s forecast is 5 degrees above average, the weatherman says that we’re 5 degrees above “where we should be”. Therefore, any deviation above or below average is evidence of climate change.

You are right about the Senate’s always being slow about things. That’s a good thing, since most of their resolutions are not good for most people.

I bought a new refrigerator less than a decade ago. It lasted about three years, even with a warranty. Even the “experts” they sent out to fix it said the new units rarely lasted more than three years. In fact, I’m on my third refrigerator now. They aren’t built to last - just to keep on giving to the refrigerator industry.

I was also told the COVID vaccine was good for me. Good thing I resisted the pressure of my physican and ignored that sage advice too.

Might be a good idea to REMEMBER the Constitution and ENFORCE the Constitution.

Enforcement is up to us. But will we ever do what is necessary? Probably not in our lifetime.

Those pennies on the $1,000 investments/campaign donations/graft/kickbacks sure do pay off for global industries and their lobbyists.

This is not a treaty with a foreign government. It is a potential U.S. law.

To be valid, a U.S. law MUST be constitutional (US Const., Art, VI, Cl. 2). Otherwise it is to be nullified, ignored and cancelled.
