According to local media, the “correct” temperature is whatever the average high temperature is.

Case in point, the average high temperature is 85 today, but the forecast is 90 degrees. Instead of saying that today’s forecast is 5 degrees above average, the weatherman says that we’re 5 degrees above “where we should be”. Therefore, any deviation above or below average is evidence of climate change.

That makes random deviations from the average abnormal, which is to say that normal conditions are abnormal. But then, words really don't have any fixed meanings, do they?
