… After decades of failure, Democrats finally managed to do something to address the biggest challenge facing the planet. In August, President Joe Biden signed into law a bill that contained significant environmental provisions, including incentivizing clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.
But the bill — dubbed the Inflation Reduction Act — proved to be a compromise package that failed to even acknowledge the climate crisis in its name.
With Democrats bracing to lose their razor-thin majority in the House and a challenging 2024 election-season looming, the party will need to energize younger voters and empower a new generation of leaders to build on its partial climate wins — all while many aged leaders simply refuse to yield.
Climate change is a uniquely generational issue.
There's a clear age divide — particularly among Republicans — when it comes to addressing it. Millennials and Gen Zers across the political spectrum are more likely than their parents and grandparents to support climate action. They're better educated on the issues, and they're more open to structural change. They also have much more at stake — older people will likely be dead before planet Earth experiences the most severe impacts.
Age — particularly among conservatives — is a key divider in Americans' views on climate policy.
Almost half – 47% – of Republicans and Republican-leaning people between the ages of 18 and 29 think the federal government is doing too little to reduce the effects of climate change, but fewer than one in five Americans aged 65 and older said the same, according to a Pew Research Center poll from May. There's a similarly wide gap on many climate-related issues, from whether energy companies should transition to more renewables to whether stricter environmental laws are worth the cost.

Europe will be an object lesson for everyone. You can’t power a modern economy with unicorn farts. Nor can you conserve your way out of the need for large amounts of energy delivered reliably and at low cost.
Oh, and of course there is no “climate catastrophe” or anything of the kind. These Cassandras have been peddling this crap since the 60s. The cause changes be it the depletion of resources, the coming ice age, the ozone hole, global warming, climate change.....but the “solution” to the “problem” never changes. That right there tells you all you need to know.
I understand is the Gen z is actually conservative. Also, they are young so they’re still afraid of things that they haven’t had time to fully think about. They just believe what some crazy professor told them. As they get older they’ll come around. Well, most of them will.
Remember how the boomers were drugged out hippies, and GenXers were flannel wearing depressives? Well, surprise....we grew up and elected Trump.
But THIS generation, the old people say, THEY will be our downfall. The fogeys KNOW because after they rail from behind their keyboards about media bias, they lap up the MSM propaganda, erm, reporting from the left coasts, about what the GenZers and Millenials want.
Here's a novel idea. Talk to ACTUAL people under 35. The majority of these "kids" are hard working (some have 2-3 jobs), focused on their careers, and don't listen to NPR (they actually listen to podcasts). Yes, some of them are pod-eating snowflakes but they tend to live in NYC or LA...where the MSM lives and from which they try to lie to you.
The younger generation is more libertarian then the fogeys, but that doesn't mean they're for the destruction of life, liberty or property. They also were raised by a lot of selfish divorced parents, and can be forgiven if they start a family later. If anything, the Deplorable youths are more conservative than their parents, and THAT is a good thing. But you won't see that in the press...the same press their affinity-biased parents allegedly detest.
Don't be fooled by the MSM. It makes you age faster.
