The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will consider adopting more stringent greenhouse gas emissions rules for heavy trucks after Congress passed new incentives to speed the adoption of zero-emission vehicles, the agency told Reuters.
In March, the EPA proposed new rules to cut smog-forming and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from heavy-duty vehicles. The agency said it will reopen the proposed GHG rules after passage in August of the climate and spending Inflation Reduction Act, a move that could speed the U.S. shift to electric heavy-duty vehicles.
The EPA will be issuing a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking to consider more stringent GHG standards for model years 2027 through 2029 in December. […]
Jed Mandel, president of the Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association, which represents companies like Daimler Trucks, Caterpillar and Cummins, said on Wednesday “getting all these rules and regulations working in concert is extremely important and very challenging.” …

Anything to impede food getting into the cities.
HA HA
And there is already an existing 80,000 trucker shortage.
The idiot-ridden fake US Administration is doing everything and anything to utterly destroy this country.
Foxtrot Juliet Bravo!
What a great idea! While in the midst of a ‘supply-chain crisis’, out-of-control inflation of the prices of things people use everyday, let’s upend the trucking industry! What could go wrong?
I swear, I believe I’m living in clown world and the clowns are the creepy kind.
Regulation is killing trucking as it is. It’s part of the reason we are where we are.
Nonprofit RMI said the inflation reduction law’s up to $40,000 Qualified Commercial Clean Vehicle tax credit “will turbocharge adoption of electric medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks.” and will make electric trucks cheaper to operate than diesels in most cases.
Stealing taxpayer money to push a agenda that will not work.
This is getting ridiculous
These rules are made by the same people that think electricity comes from the outlet on the wall and that tomatoes grow in the vegetable aisle.
Might even be satanic, yes?
Impose new rules, make them spend tons of money to get it done, and then they will just decide to ban them.
Just great, as if the economy wasn’t crippled enough.
The economy isn’t collapsing fast enough! What else can we do?
Where in the Constitution does the EPA derive the power to make law?
I’ll be keeping my old ‘99 Pete 379 EXHD with its new Cat 3406E until I retire. They can go pleasure themselves.
What a great idea. Make those evil trucking companies pay for it. They deserve it.
But wait a minute. Who is really going to pay for it?
You and me. Every thing you eat, wear sit on, live in,. drive or play with comes to you on a diesel truck or is created by something fueled with diesel, farming and shipping are notable examples.
Every item necessary to your life will be priced higer because of transportation costs.
As an aside, my fun thing requires that I make frequent stops at truck stops. Some have what looks like a hundred or so trucks parked with engines idling so as to keep drivers warm or cool while they rest and you can not smell it. If they were to shut all of them down or start all of them at the same time, you could not tell the difference other than the sound.
The EPA is full of people whose only job is to think of something to justify their existance.
Our government is under enemy occupation and we are all sitting around in a trance watching them systematically destroy the country.
Well heck yeah. That sounds like an awesomely STOOPID plan.

Yep... Get ready to get hungry... It is not a bug, it is a feature...
