Ohio congressional candidate J.R. Majewski has misrepresented military service

WASHINGTON (AP) — Campaigning for a northwestern Ohio congressional seat, Republican J.R. Majewski from Port Clinton presents himself as an Air Force combat veteran who deployed to Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, once describing “tough” conditions including a lack of running water that forced him to go more than 40 days without a shower.

Military documents obtained by The Associated Press through a public records request tell a different story.

They indicate Majewski never deployed to Afghanistan but instead completed a six-month stint helping to load planes at an air base in Qatar, a longtime U.S. ally that is a safe distance from the fighting.

Majewski’s account of his time in the military is just one aspect of his biography that is suspect. His post-military career has been defined by exaggerations, conspiracy theories, talk of violent action against the U.S. government and occasional financial duress.

So are you going to vote for Kaptur? Did you serve? When? Where?.

I served for 25 years including combat duty with a Purple Heart and a CIB, and I only regret that I don’t live in Ohio so I can’t vote for him.

Mommas never let your babies vote for Democrats.

Wouldn’t it be delicious if he could produce his orders for deployment to Afghanistan?

When I was in the Air Force my promotion records were always screwed up. The only place to always seem to have it right was the pay office. Luckily, I had copies of all of my promotion orders.

The statement he provided AP was a non-denial. “I am proud to have served my country,” If he lied about serving in Afghanistan, he is no better than 'Dick' Blumenthal. A quick google shows several examples of his claims, including an interview that included "I don't like to talk about it" regarding his "time in Afghanistan". This moron will probably cost us this opportunity to get rid of Kaptur. And he's a Qtard, go figure. And Trump endorsed him.

Yeah but it's not combat duty BS! If it's in a combat zone, it's combat duty.

For most the difference between 'combat duty' and 'non combat duty' is fairly easy to discern. For some it seems a difficult concept.

One of these things is not like the other

J.R. was stationed in Qatar but J.R.’s team flew into Afghanistan from Qatar. He served IN Afghanistan during the war. For you and @AP to twist that into a hit piece like he didn’t is nuts. I’d like to know if you served in the Afghanistan war wearing a uniform.

Do they differentiate by who receives combat pay? Anyone serving in a combat zone is a potential target of the enemy.

Why do people run with whatever hit piece the MSM spits out? Shouldn’t they wait for a response from J.R.?

Oh a very good possibility indeed. But the difference between combat duty and sucking down suds duty in the rear is very apparent. After some field time suds time was greatly looked forward to. Of course typically it was PBR instead of Schlitz, but who cared?.

The Air Force loosened the definition of Combat Duty. They put a number on the sorties flown into certain areas, like Qatar, (which is called Combat Support), and said x number of combat support sorties equals combat time. It was ridiculous. You had guys flying into Germany, which was a staging area for some aircraft, and they could claim combat time after a number of sorties. They could log combat support by flying into and around Germany, which also was ridiculous. The yahoos in charge were all about looking like a mexican general with all their pretty medals. When they started giving out Bronze Stars to admin, I gave up.

Imagine the ridicule received growing up with the last name “Majewski” lol.

Likely none. It's a Polish place name, generaly pronounced "Mah-jes-ski, and there are tons of people with Polish last names in northern Ohio.

Well, if he was telling stories about not taking a shower for 40 days, then he clearly was stating he was deployed in Afghanistan itself for much longer than simply loading and unloading flights.

And even then, an Air Force guy in Afghanistan whose job is to load and unload planes is going to be at a base where you can get a shower.

BS! If it's in a combat zone, it's combat duty.

Maybe Qatar is a combat zone for tax purposes, but pretending you're in a FOB in Afghanistan when you're sitting in a hotel in Doha is pretty pathetic.

Why it is that Republicans think they can lie their way through a campaign and expect the same deferential treatment the “media” give to the dems is a real head-scratcher. The “media” are on the hunt 24/7 for anything to use against GOP candidates. Why in the hell do these people want to make their job so easy?

Yet no comment on Wes Moore, Maryland rat governor candidate who claims in his book to have been born in Baltimore and having earned a Bronze Star. Both lies.

Don't ever lie about your military service. It's too easy to verify the truth.

No matter where you served, you served with a whole bunch of other people who remember you and remember exactly what you did or did not do.

Same here. But my signing a NDA would tend to stop claiming stuff.

Yes, our primary voters nominated a bunch of morons. Hopefully it will not allow Democrats to keep control of the House.
