Adnan Syed — the subject of the hit crime podcast “Serial” — was released from prison on Monday, following a court decision to vacate his conviction for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee.

The conviction was thrown out by Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn, who ruled the state had failed to share evidence with Syed’s attorneys that could have helped his defense.

The now-41-year-old Syed — who was arrested at 17 and has spent more than two decades behind bars — was calm and stoic as Phinn made her ruling, the Baltimore Sun reported. His family members in the gallery wept openly.

Do not fall into the hands of the state Legal operatives, who have unlimited funds and nefarious motives.

Exactly. Once they zero in on a suspect they become willfully blind to all evidence that may exonerate their target.

Sounds like the prosecution was (unnecessarily) a little sketchy so the judge probably made the right decision. They should meticulously play by the rules.

I live in Maryland and remember this case well. This guy was definitely guilty IMHO and killed a young high school girl. I hope the state opts for a retrial.

The “journalistic” podcast about him was so liberally biased that I have no idea what happened.

Why do you say that? Because cops wouldn’t arrest someone if they weren’t guilty?

Didn’t know that. She seems to want to play by her rules and not the rules the rest of us live by. Glad she’s off the public payroll now.

Yes, the family still thinks he's guilty.

The Media went on a crusade with this guy.

I'm seeing more and more evidence that Media can actually create "reality".

Yes, the “crusade” (ha ha) is that he’s a pure Moslem. Not sure if it’s better to be black and Moslem, but being a poor oppressed pure Arab Moslem after 9/11 is probably the way to go.
