CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that MAGA Republicans who were “unhappy” former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election were dragging down American democracy.
Anchor Margaret Brennan asked, “How dangerous is the moment that we are in?
Garrett said, “It feels more dangerous, Margaret than any I’ve encountered in covering politics at the national level since 1990. David and I had to write this book, but we wish we didn’t have to. Stating what clearly happened in 2020, it wasn’t a fraudulent election. No crime was committed. That doesn’t mean you have to be happy with the result, but one of the burdens of democracy is when you’re unhappy with the result, your obligation is to win the next election, not slander, baselessly, the election you fairly lost. And we have a component of American politics now that wants to slander an election that was fairly lost because they’re unhappy. And that unhappiness does not entitle you to drag down American democracy because if Margaret, we enter a phase in American life where either political party refuses to accept a fair and verified election simply because it lost, then we will dismantle democracy bit by bit before our very eyes. And that’s what I am, what we are driving at when we talk about the coming contours of not a bloody civil war, but a procedural Civil War where we separate ourselves from another and the Union, the United States itself, bit by bit begins to break apart.

WTF is this “American democracy” these pukes keep referencing? We are a constitutional republic.
Not sure that Trump lost. Let’s start from this idea, that no one verified, authenticated, did any in depth forensic studies, but denied anyone access to corroborate or validate an election. So looks like we’ll go through this again in November, this time the other members of the circus will dance and scream.

Yet no one calls out Hillary for denying Trump won in 2016, and her behind-the-scenes shenanigans were far more illegal than a demonstration inside the Capitol building.

I bet Major Garrett hasn’t spent five minutes analyzing the various claims of election irregularities.

More dangerous than throwing in with BLM terrorists and defunding the police? Opening the borders and inflicting historically high inflation? Allowing unconstitutional ballot initiatives and fighting against voter ID? I do not think he even believes what they write for him.

But the much-repeated "American democracy" that conservatives are such a threat to is, in reality, just a euphemism for "Marxist totalitarianism", which they, for some suicidal reason, support.

If that were true, then what in the hell were the years of Leftist run Washington D.C. riots, and the Media, and the whole Dim party doing in their knowingly false rejection of Trump as an “illegitimate” president, throughout his four years in office????
The fact that Garret got away with making that statement demonstrates that CBS, just like ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NBC and NPR are a big part of the problem. They are not venues of journalism, just mouthpieces for the narratives of the Left and the Dims.
