Recently, the Arizona Mirror revealed that the Republican Party in Arizona is urging Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell to financially support U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters.
Masters, who secured a coveted endorsement from President Trump, triumphed in the primaries based on that seal of approval.
In the beginning, Masters was trailing his Democrat rival, incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly, by a significant margin of 12 points.
But matters have recently swung in Masters's favor, and a recent Emerson College poll has Kelly leading Masters by just two percentage points. Since the margin of error is around two points, this could be regarded as a tie.
This is a monumental achievement because Masters is lagging significantly behind Kelly in terms of fundraising.
So how has McConnell reacted?
The Senate Leadership Fund, a super-PAC associated with McConnell, reduced its advertising budget in Arizona by around $8 million in August.
It was reported that McConnell was in talks with billionaire entrepreneur Peter Thiel, who spent more than $13 million on behalf of Masters through the Saving Arizona PAC in the primary, to provide financial support for Masters for the general election as well.
According to The Washington Post, those talks failed.
Despite that, Thiel, who is Masters's friend and longtime employer, has resumed spending in the Arizona Senate race.
In addition, Thiel's Saving Arizona PAC announced it will be spending specifically to promote Masters.
The Sentinel Action Fund, a super-PAC associated with the conservative-issues group Heritage Action for America, has pledged to spend at least $5 million to boost Masters. Some $3.5 million from its fund will be dedicated to television ads, while $1.5 million will fund voter outreach.

mitch only does as china requests
He should call a press conference and say that he will caucus with the American people and Arizonans. Wins by 10.
“Your going to have to pour hot water on Mitch and Lindsey to get them uncoupled.”

That’s quite the visual, lol. Glad I ate a couple of hours ago.
The GOP is useless at the federal level...
We are effectively a one-party system and have been for years.
In reality, who would want to be in charge when the SHTF? If the Rs take charge and it goes historically bad, the D’s could blame it all on the Rs and take over in 2024 and beyond.
Mitch doesn’t deserve to be majority leader.
Lagging political leaders are the largest handicap to their party.
Agree. Many here have no use for him nor for Linda from SC. Herschel Walker was cut off funds as well. How does Mitch control any funds except HIS?
“Is Mitch McConnell sabotaging the GOP’s chances to win back the Senate? “
Duck-Circles
Democrats ram bad policies through Congress because Republicans are a feckless opposition.
When the country worsens, voters put the Republicans back into office.
Democrats block Republican efforts to fix things, and then blame Republicans for failing to fix the problems. If Democrats are especially effective, they might even rewrite history to blame Republicans for creating the problems, too.
Voters put Democrats back into power.

He needs to be defeated in 2023 with the election of a new Majority Leaders by the Senate.
Fortunately the Turtle is universally inept so he won’t be able to stop our train.
yup, him and Linda...
McConnell is playing a game of Chicken with Peter Thiel. Thiel committed to Primary money and now McConnell is trying to force him to put up Election money. Thiel said no.
Cameron is the guy who single-handedly smacked down the phony #StBre narrative by getting Old Black Man On The Balcony to testify to the GJ that the police had repeatedly announced themselves.
Mitch will be 83 in 2025, the year he has to decide for re-election in 2026. He won't run. Cameron will appoint himself with Mitch's blessing, and then the Lt. Gov. Kelly Knight Craft will become Governor.
Both Cameron and Craft are MAGA. Trump treads lightly here because Cameron was groomed by Miotch but his Dark Sith powers could not restrain Cameron from becoming perhaps one of the best black MAGA politicans in the US.
“Being in charge when it happens means being blamed.”
Exactly,
I am 40 years tired of presidents blaming their predecessor fo the problems but trying to take credit for things that go well.
A president *owns* everything that comes after they take their hand off that bible. As with a CEO of a corporation- the buck stops with YOU as soon as you take the title, if you don’t like it then don’t take the job.
Only the most ignorant and insane partisans cut any current president any slack for anything short of an actual, declared war.
The buck stops in the oval office, and at the Speaker’s desk, Democrat or Republican.
Unless the nukes are actually on the way before the swearing in, the person and party in charge owns it; I don’t care if they are full-on MAGA or full-on commie, don’t take the gig and then come whining about what you stepped in to.
Trump will have go go around Mitches and hold sa rslly or two more in Arizona. The Republicans need to fund their own since they are getting no help from DC.
Mitch had said he would resign if he could be replaced by a Republican....so I guess we have to wait.
Correct. Rick Scott is pushing Murkowski too.
