Reps. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), both members of the House Jan. 6 select committee, will introduce legislation this week to reform the Electoral Count Act, an 1887 law that outlines how electoral votes are cast and counted following presidential elections.
The legislation has been highly anticipated since the panel began its work investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.,,,,..,,,,,,,,,.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.,.....,... but details on the bill have not yet been released. ....... ... The law outlines the procedure for casting and counting Electoral College votes as part of the presidential election process. Former President Trump and those close to him attempted to use the arcane statute to block the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
In their Sunday op-ed, Lofgren and Cheney said they will propose reforms “to protect the rule of law and ensure that future efforts to attack the integrity of presidential elections can’t succeed.”

We Have a Bill to Help Prevent Another Jan. 6 Attack It’s past time to reform the Electoral Count Act to make clear Congress can’t overturn an election result.

Actually, the Electoral Count Act of 1887 is almost certainly unconstitutional. It gives Congress the authority to override the electoral vote process among the states, which is a clear violation of Article II and the 12th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
1. no motor voter
2. ALL results due the night OF THE ELECTION. Late arriving ballots and waiting a week = fraud.
3. By handwritten, signed before two witnesses, in person ONLY voting. Do the Iraqi thing with the ink on the finger fingerprint database it to confirm.
That should ‘protect our country.’

This itself is worthy of a lengthy discussion. It might even be a good idea. I am not sure it is constitutional for Congress to prohibit such a thing, though.
The U.S. Constitution explicitly states that the presidential electors for each state will be chosen in the manner proscribed by each state legislature. I don't see how Congress has any authority to put limitations on this.
The only date that really matters in a presidential election is the date in December when the presidential electors for each state convene and cast their electoral votes.
