I had to show my SS card when I first registered in Florida long ago, and when the federal REAL ID law went into effect, I had to prove my citizenship (born in US) with several documents. Your county didn’t require that of you?

When I first registered to vote in 1966 I was required to bring my birth certificate for proof of age and citizenship, HS diploma to prove literacy and DL for proof of address.

I registered in Saint John’s county. I do not recall taking my naturalization certificate to register. I always keep it in bank safe deposit vault. All I had to show was my driver’s license.

Florida was my 4th voter registration. Illinois was first. No one asked me to show naturalization certificate. That is an important document and I keep it in bank safe deposit vault. Next was CA, then WA and again no proof of citizenship was asked.

I couldn't find a link but somewhere here on FR I read that the illegals were being issued SS Numbers with their "Welcome" documents.

I'd like to know that at a minimum we get retinal scans, fingerprints (I think they do that) and a DNA sample as a minimum along with family, country and any other verifiable info.

With a Social Security card, a Driver's License and proof of address - a utility bill - registration is a snap almost anywhere. Sigh.
