At one time, maybe. Anyone think a convention today would be fair and balanced? Our alleged reps in CONgress rarely are looking out for their constituents any more. So who would you trust in this? I know, "safe". "Effective".

Or the liberals take over the convention and Conservatives lose ….. too risky

An Article V Convention of States is NOT a "Constitutional Convention."

It's only power is to propose Constitutional Amendments which must be ratified in the ordinary Constitutional manner.

Doesn’t Congress have a role in that process? I don’t remember.

Don’t forget the senate. Just like congress, they are pretty much bought and paid for.

A constitutional convention in today's America would result in converting our Republic into a "democracy" ... something the Founders feared and, from their exhaustive knowledge of history and from their wisdom, rejected outright.

Then, by majority vote of an ignorant, unwise public, capitalism would be replaced by socialism which would then devolve into communism (a tyranny far greater that anything we have in America today). This isn't conjecture ... it's a certainty.

We only need 2 election cycles to not need it. Is our party up to it? I have faith in the public, not so much the voter. It’s up to us and more importantly our elected leaders. It’s going in the right direction as Trump’s out there.

Here’s an article that contradicts your statement, who is right I’m not sure.

This article indicates that 34 States on their own could call a Constitutional Convention and basically set up their own rules and agenda.

https://www.cbpp.org/research/states-likely-could-not-control-constitutional-convention-on-balanced-budget-amendment-or

The only Constitutional Convention ever held was in 1787 when the Bill of Rights were approved and in that conventional amendments were approved by the rules setup by the convention.

With so widespread corruption in the government I would not trust them to change the Constitution.

I am not disputing what you say, but consider this, the way we are proceeding, the Democrats are basically doing that now.

Elections laws are changed by fiat, not the State Legislatures that are spelled out in the Constitution.

The Administrative State makes up its own rules outside of the legislature which have the effect of laws.

“Constitutional Convention Is How ‘We, the People’ Take Power Away from D.C.”

No, anyone that thinks changing a piece of paper that is already TOTALLY IGNORED by the Left will improve things is dreaming.

The way we take back power is to DRIVE THEM OUT at the ballot box, assuming that we can have enough fair elections to do so.

Then, by majority vote of an ignorant, unwise public...

That's not how it works.

You believe 38 state legislatures would vote for liberals taking over an Article V convention?

I would strongly support Texas seceding & taking about 28 states along with them.

“The Administrative State makes up its own rules outside of the legislature which have the effect of laws.”

That is because we have not started shooting yet.

Excellent points ... though it requires a belief that a true "opposition party" exists in today's America -- an effective opposition party. I don't see that at all ... and until I do, I don't want to see our Constitution tinkered with by today's "brilliant minds". Cheers!

I’m not referring to the convention of states itself ... I’m referring to what will surely happen when the Democrat/Communist/Left has its way following the convention.
