Arkansas GOP Gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders revealed she had cancer and that it had been successfully removed in a statement today.

Sanders’s statement reads:

“During a check-up earlier this month, my doctor ordered a biopsy on an area of concern in my neck and the test revealed that I had thyroid cancer. Today, I underwent a successful surgery to remove my thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes and by the grace of God I am now cancer-free. I want to thank the Arkansas doctors and nurses for their world-class care, as well as my family and friends for their love, prayers, and support. “

“I look forward to returning to the campaign trail soon. This experience has been a reminder that whatever battle you may be facing, don’t lose heart. As governor, I will never quit fighting for the people of our great state.”

Sarah’s doctor also released a statement about her status

“Sarah is currently recovering from surgery in which we removed her thyroid gland and some of the surrounding lymph nodes in her neck. The surgery went extremely well, and I expect her to be back on her feet even within the next 24 hours.”

“This is a Stage I papillary thyroid carcinoma which is the most common type of thyroid cancer and has an excellent prognosis. While she will need adjuvant treatment with radioactive iodine, as well as continued long term follow up, I think it’s fair to say she’s now cancer free, and I don’t anticipate any of this slowing her down.”

Sanders was press secretary for former President Trump, she was most notable for her no-nonsense approach to the media. She wasn’t afraid to push back against divisive and misleading commentary and questions from the White House press corps.

So glad they caught it early. Hopefully she won’t have any serious issues from the thyroidectomy.

It's one of the least damaging cancers, if that's such a thing. Just slightly above skin cancer.

Timing is very important. If the cancer is caught early enough and addressed at that time, some cancers can be dealt with.

Very true. My lung cancer was caught early. Eight years later my colon cancer was caught early. I currently have no evidence of cancer.

How old was he and what time period did he live in. Some cancers are more treatable and manageable than others.

“Some cancers are more treatable and manageable than others.”

He had melanoma. Early treatment is vital. He had several treatments, operations and chemo.

Your post saying skin cancers least dangerous was irresponsible in that it could lead to someone not taking skin cancer serious leading to late treatment with complications and death.

“My brother died of squamous cell skin cancer at 48.”

I had one three years ago but it was caught early. I have been going for checkups once a year and sometimes more if I find something curious.

The surgeon that removed mine developed the procedure for removing and testing layers.

Last year my dermatologist told me the surgeon lost his right hand in a lawnmower accident.

My brother had his first one removed in his early 20s. He was a redhead who spent a lot of time outdoors fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. His daughter is a redhead too, and her parents were very careful about her sun exposure.
