Fox's Jesse Watters confronts Lindsey Graham over timing of abortion bill
Washington Examiner ^ | Sep 14 | by Daniel Chaitin

Fox News host Jesse Watters confronted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on air over the timing of his bill to ban abortion nationwide after 15 weeks.

In the tense exchange, during which the senator raised his voice as he defended his actions, Watters pressed Graham to respond to Republicans who are "angry" at him for giving Democrats an "out" when they were faced with bad inflation numbers.

The senator said he has no apology, arguing he refuses to sit idly by while, in his view, the United States takes a stance on abortion as extreme as that in China and North Korea.

"No one is saying you need to sit on the sidelines, but yesterday wasn’t the day to do that. Yesterday was the day they lost all momentum when this inflation thing punched them right in the face, and you gave them an out," Watters shot back.

"A lot of people don’t like that," he added. "You could have done it on any other day, just like you could have delayed the whole press conference — like Joe should have delayed that stupid party." Watters was referring to an event President Joe Biden held on the White House South Lawn on Tuesday to celebrate the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.

On Tuesday, Graham unveiled the Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act, which would enact a sweeping ban on abortions nationwide after 15 weeks of gestation, with exceptions for instances of rape, incest, and safeguarding the life of the mother.

Not to mention you will never see a bill like this with Republican majorities when it would have any chance of passing.

Linda is as useless a human being as ever existed.

Republicans just can't get out of their own way.

They have to WANT to get out of the way first...Linda Grahamnesty and the GOPe do not want the MAGA Republicans (just like they despised the Tea Party Republicans) because THOSE Republicans will upset their apple cart and may cause some of them to lose time at the government trough!

That is ALL this disdain is about - power and money! PERIOD!

The GOPe is in on the corruption and screwing of Americans just like the Marxist Democrats! The only difference is the Democrats want to go full Socialists so they never have to worry about We The Peons actually rising up, while the GOPe wants to keep the illusion of "free, fair, and secure elections" as the narrative!

No… there are plenty of things all states have that the Feds do not gain a right to manage. Also the Supreme Court just ruled on that question.

“However, if every state has abortion, can the federal government regulate the standards?”

States can regulate only where the state regulation does not trigger the Supremacy Clause.

Good for Jesse!!!! Glad someone did.

And he’s Right, of course. Linda was assigned to do it. Likely by Mitch, but there are powerful forces behind both.

It was a very stupid, obviously attempt at sabotaging our chances of winning. It will energize the crazy left, who have very short attention spans, but act.

Their effort at making the election about abortion was failing, dying out on its own. He just pumped life into it, on the left.

His “bill” would cause zero people on the right to show up, who weren’t already going to. But on the left it probably moved the needle 3-5 points.

What a McCain.

Graham, as usual was just grandstanding, without care or thought for the consequences.

Alito was right. He returned the issue to the democratic decisions of the states, which is where it belongs. Graham is a sabatuer, for the Dims.

I don’t know. I guess he’s really good at soft-soaping the voters and he gets loads of cash from the Senate Republican PAC.

Graham is trying to keep Trump out.
Anyone but Trump.

Any weak person..

they can’t deal with a man comfortable in his own skin, able to withstand their abuse.. a man who can run a country with the people in mind.

“He’s just ‘John McCain’ that secretly dresses like a woman.”

McCain delighted in siding with Democrats in order to defeat conservative legislation. Remember his last hurrah in DC when dying of brain cancer. He flew to Washington to cast his vote with glee against the legislation to end Obamacare. It didn’t matter that he had promised his voters in the Senate election the year before he would vote to defund Obamacare. Dissing Trump and conservative Republicans was more important.

Lindsay Graham was always McCain’s acolyte. Since McCain’s death Graham, like his mentor McCain, has delighted in the media fawning he receives from stabbing Trump and conservative Republicans in the back. Yet McConnell and most of the GOP Senators continue to tolerate, and sometimes applaud, the behavior.
