Republican leaders had a credible plan for this year’s elections in New Hampshire, the northeast’s most competitive state. GOP leaders would rally behind electable, mainstream candidates who’d be well positioned to compete against vulnerable Democratic incumbents, while taking steps to derail the more radical candidates running in Republican primaries.
GOP voters in the Granite State apparently did not care for their party leaders’ plan. NBC News reported this morning:
Don Bolduc, a self-styled political outsider, has won New Hampshire’s Republican U.S. Senate nomination, NBC News projects, overcoming a push by the GOP establishment to elevate state Senate President Chuck Morse. Bolduc will face Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan, who was renominated easily Tuesday, in what’s expected to be one of the fall’s marquee matchups.
To be sure, the Senate primary wasn’t the only race in which Republican primary voters prioritized ideological purity over electability. In New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district, for example, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Minority Whip Steve Scalise backed Matt Mowers, a former State Department official. Primary voters, however, handed the nomination to Karoline Leavitt.
In New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district, party leaders rallied behind Keene Mayor George Hansel. Primary voters appear to have nevertheless chosen Robert Burns, a far-right former county official who received some financial support from Democrats who see him as far too right-wing to seriously compete in a general election.

McConnell and Rick Scott are not happy.
RINOs have to go before the American people can win any victories.

Republican “electability”: Closet Democrat.
30 plus years of military service Rose from PFC to GENERAL. Yup, definitely a political outsider.
Probably more like “assistant democrat”. Even after all her betrayals they still won’t let Lizard Cheney sit at the big table, Lol.
Translation - ineffective losers.
My little girl!
Repukes generally get wiped out in New Hampshire and they always get their preferred candidate out of the primary. Nothing would be different this time if their plan was successful
Stupid serfs. Imagine voting for their own self interest instead of the Party Line!
Any report that has ‘far right’ but no ‘far left’ has already told me that the truth is not to be found within. As for ‘mistake’, let us see what 8 November will bring.
One thing for certain, if the Republican is a winner, this ‘D’onkey Party enabler will deep-six this piece as if it never existed!
The same mentality is writing glowing peans to Charlie Crist down here in Florida. The thing is that in the last Governor’s election in 2018, DeSantis’ opponent was the next great ‘D’, a near certainty for re-running again or being chosen for a national position in the next ‘D’ Administration. He was the former mayor of Tallahassee, a preferred minority and came within 30k votes of DeSantis. Of course his name was Andrew Gillum and he self-destructed in a rather spectacular fashion.
You'd think somehow Granite State GOP Voters started believing that Elite, Insider "Republican" candidates were actually undercover Democrats, or closet Democrats, or maybe Assistant Democrats, or possibly RINOs ...
How could they get such a ridiculous idea?
“Electability” is not a strong trait among the GOP Establishment, even though they claim to hold the patent on it. There is a fierce undercurrent of resentment running through the rank and file of Republican voters, and it is spilling into the numbers of the unaffiliated voters, and even picking up a few of the old-line Democrats appalled at the lurch to the left by the national Democrat party.
MAGA rules. On many different levels.
Everywhere you go the MSM is using this primary to basically portray the whole GOP as having gone over the edge into insanity.
This is their strategy and messaging - yes, inflation may be out of control, economy in ruins, the US’s standing in the world is in free fall, etc., however, at least good ol’ Joe and his Democrats aren’t insane and won’t “destroy Democracy” like the Republicans will.
Aww...

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
yeah, we might be witnessing a new coalition building away from traditional the demopublican/republicrat party
Fixed it.
GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
its fun to watch spin. They don’t tell you that almost twice as many republicans voted as democrats. That DOES NOT bode well for democrats in the election.
