So at what point does China say, "Now is the time to launch the invasion."
When it hits 200 million barrels?

The SOR was supposed to be for our military so that it could run full blast during a war. The Usurpers keep slipping a million barrels here and a million barrels there to the ChiComs.
Whose Navy are we fueling? While “The Big Guy gets 10%”.

I also am used to checking the X or Y axis. Still, a 1/3 drop in the reserve when the “crisis” was self created seems crazy. This also means that future oil production will have a higher floor when prices fall.
To: rlmorel
It’s still a big drop though.

Definitely. Puts our nation’s security at risk.

I think they’re running about a million barrels a day. So won’t quite get to only 200 left by election day. Of course after the election they’ll become buyers of oil, and off to the races with prices. There was a time when I would’ve said Americans won’t go for this gimmick, I’ve lost that optimism.

Honesty requires that the origin be shown in any time series like that. I agree that it is a risky move and a shameless effort to shape the election by Joe Biden, but you really need to show 0, or the theoretical minimum if zero is not possible, on the Y axis.

this book has never been out of print since it was written in 1954Most if not all of the examples in this book are hilariously out of date. Somebody ought to update them with Brandon inspired examples.

Have they really drained it that far in an attempt to save their political skins? I have concerns they have no intention of refilling. They hate oil in any form and draining the Strategic Reserve would create several crisis they could use to strengthen their control over our country.

I hate it when data is displayed that way too, but...caveat emptor, and I fell into that one. It just goes to show that Leftists are the only disingenuous people out there.
Remember just a few months ago the Dems used a crappy graph showing a steep decline in gasoline prices when it was only something like three cents. Adjusting that ol' x-axis to make folks think there was some steep decline.
They should not be draining the Reserve but our side making it look even worse than it is makes us look like the Left.

I have worked with statistics for decades, and I did a forehead slap when that deceptive plot of data was pointed out to me.
Ah well. We live. We learn!

I agree. Plotting data correctly provides context that is useful in deciding whether or not there is a real issue. If I had been sharp, I would have recalled the graph I saw yesterday that showed a downturn, but...not THAT. Unfortunately, I have a bit on my mind and when I saw that, my knee jerked. Well, no matter. The fundamental concept is the odiousness of the siphoning out of the SPR for political purposes. We're going to be needing that oil soon, I fear.

Do they not understand that increased demand will only cause oil prices to spike again. I know pudding brains doesn’t get it, but his handlers do and there’s no real intention to refill the SPR.
