TRAFALGAR GROUP POLL: Biden's Student Loan Forgiveness May Lose More Votes Than It Buys
PJ Media ^ | 09/13/2022 | Stacey Lennox

A new national poll from Convention of States Action and Trafalgar Group shows that President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional student loan forgiveness may hurt midterm candidates who support it. Nearly two-thirds of Independent likely voters join the 88.5% of Republicans who say they are less likely to vote for a candidate who supports President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan. Overall, less than one-third of likely voters say support for student loan forgiveness makes them much more likely to vote for a candidate who supports it. So much for Biden’s attempt to buy votes.

“We’re seeing this reflected not just in the polling but on the ground as well with grassroots activists we talk to in every state. Voters—particularly those must-win Independents—are appalled by Biden’s plan and will respond at the ballot box. This is looking like the sleeper issue that may have more impact in November than people suspect, ” said Mark Meckler, President of the Convention of States.

In 2021, Pew Research reported that 37.9% of Americans over 25 held a bachelor’s degree, including 14.3% that completed a graduate degree. At the time, the gender gap was stark. The gap in college completion is even wider among adults ages 25 to 34, who are most likely to have significant outstanding debt. 46% of women in this age group have at least a bachelor’s degree, compared with 36% of men.

Yet in every age group, the largest plurality of voters told pollsters student loan forgiveness made them much less likely to vote for a candidate that supported it. Robert Cahaly, Chief Pollster for the Trafalgar Group, shared that he had first seen the trend when polling the Senate race in Georgia. Trafalgar was first to report finding a slight lead for Republican candidate Herschel Walker.

Another easy ad R candidates could run.
Have a young plumber guy with his wife and young kids. Show the old beater car he drives. The guy is tired from working 12 hours.
His kid could look up at him and say “Daddy I heard you have to pay someone else’s loans, why”?

Easy campaign issue

People found out that the 10,000 grand in student “Forgiveness” is considered taxable income by the IRS and they will be taxed about 1,000 bucks..so yeah they are NOT fans of that..the only ones who wont give a crap dont pay any taxes anyway

I still think the number of votes doesn’t matter. The loan forgiveness may indeed hurt Biden with the voters, but the voters don’t play much of a role any more.

What the Democrats and the media are looking for are excuses for why the Democrats do surprisingly well in November. And the “wildly popular student loan forgiveness program” is a convenient excuse they can trot out. Along with “abortion” and “January 6” and “Trump”. No wonder those Democrat voters showed up in droves to support Uncle Joe.

Biden got lucky that China locked down and that eased gas prices for awhile, but that is temporary along with him depleting the national reserve.

If the Snowflake Generation is the “smartest generation to ever roam the planet”, why the hell can’t they get jobs so they can pay their obligations. Having someone else pay YOUR bills so you can go hiking makes you a freeloading deadbeat.

It’s not a debt forgiveness. It is a debt transfer from those who borrowed money to those who didn’t.

Imagine Jesus’s story of how the ruler forgave his servant’s debt and instead of forgiving it, he made his other subjects pay the debt instead.

Did Trafalgar include Dominion in their poll?

Nailed it! That’d be an excellent campaign ad.

If the Big Amtrak Guy does not stop the RR strike by Friday, him and Buttplug will lose more votes.

Thanks!
Yes I really think the “pros” doing these campaigns really don’t get it, and how to make them work.

His handlers don’t care. They are confident their fraud machine is strong enough to destroy an honest election.

I’ve read a lot of bitching about how Biden’s plan is chintzy, still leaves the poor darlings with most of their debt - what’s 10 grand off a couple hundred $K owed for a PhD in Gender Studies? They’re actually insulted!

Availability and interest rates on student loans should only be based on the ability to repay it which, in turn, is based on the earning power of the major. In a rational world, engineering majors would pay the lowest rates and gender studies major would pay the equivalent of payday loan interest rates.
When my older brother announced in college that he was going to major in English, I asked “why, you already speak it?” Not to be outdone in making poor economic choices, I decided to major in history. The difference was I had that “uh, oh” moment when I applied for jobs after graduating and quickly enrolled in professional grad school to correct the error of my student loan ways. On the other hand, my brother, never short of self deprecatory witticisms, referencing his English major albatross loan he eventually paid off, described his condition as “polysyllabic poverty”. lol

Sounds like my wife, but she compounded the problem by getting a master’s degree in Victorian Literature. She did parlay it into jobs in publishing - even was a ghost writer for a couple of illiterate celebrities.

Bidet had to take this step, otherwise, he may have lost the college indoctrinated female and the non-binary QWERTY+ vote.
