Allow People With HIV and Hepatitis B to Enlist in Military, Urge Lawmakers [Nuclear Barf]

Two identical congressional letters—one signed by six senators; the other by 34 representatives—urge President Joe Biden to direct the Department of Defense (DoD) to allow people with “well-managed” HIV and hepatitis B virus (HBV) to enlist, seek appointment and otherwise serve in the military, according to a press statement from Representative Mike Quigley (D–Ill.).

Quigley led the effort in the House, along with representatives Sara Jacobs (D–Calif.) and Barbara Lee (D–Calif.). Senators Chris Coons (D–Del.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D–N.Y.) spearheaded the call to action in the Senate.

“People living with HIV and HBV can manage their condition with as little as one pill a day and are able to lead very full, long lives,” Quigley’s press release states. “Particularly given the advancements in medicine for both HIV and HBV, these viruses do not in and of themselves make an individual less able to serve, and the risk of battlefield transmission is near zero. There is no longer any plausible argument to deny these individuals the ability to serve their country.”

Let us consider that people with far less of a health liability than HIV or hep B are deferred from enlistment. The military should not be a democracy. The rules don't apply.

What happens to someone who requires daily maintenance medication when they are captured?

Or what happens if one of those unpredictable turn of events inherent in war cuts a unit off from logistical supply, and the soldier can no longer get their pills?

This is a flat-out terrible idea.

Cogent points. Exactly.

This is the reason a large range of other medical conditions which require ongoing attention disqualify from service.

HIV infected individuals quickly become "detectible" (infectious) shortly after discontinuing their medication. They would almost instantly become a danger to others in the field.

High school diplomas no longer needed. Pretty soon, felony convictions will no longer be a bar. Potential recruits, who used to be considered substandard, will now be welcome and given monetary bonuses.

Well, the infantry can always use more cannon fodder for the next war.

I firmly believe we will never win another war against a superpower. Our military has become that emasculated.

It’s a scary premise.

Are they insane?

Is that a trick question?

If HIV patients don’t continue their medication regimen they get sick. When that happens it’s communicable. Military field operations very often run ahead of logistical support. None of this is difficult to understand.

Recruit patients who are in hospice care as well. Whether they agree or not. And if bigger numbers mean bigger budgets, open recruiting offices at cemeteries nationwide; or just piggy back on the democrat voting booths.

How else can homosexuals and drag queen cross dressers join the military after their “dozen dudes look like a lady a night” lifestyle?

Eventally all the male homosexuals end up like Biden who can’t hold his crap. I seriously don’t know why Depends doens’t offer the Spinster’s Son Editon in Rainbow Colors for the older gay male community. AIDs and Hepatitis have prevented service members from giving blood until the homo politicians infected the blood supply.

I just checked. HIV patients become virally "detectable," meaning the virus has rebounded in their blood and is now affecting their health, in as little as one week after discontinuing their drug regimen.

That's a horrific liability.

Military recruitment down (and down sharply) at the level of Bidenidiot’s approval rating.

The military idiots-r-us crowd forgot where most of their recruitments come from. No problemo tho, these are the same idiots-r-us who will soon start talking either short-term mandatory service or re-instituting the draft.

Yes, and there tends to be quite a bit of blood around active military operations. People who normally wouldn’t be exposed, will be.
