The news of municipal deputies from Russian districts signing a petition demanding Putin resigns was shared by Ksenia Torstrem, a member of the St. Petersburg municipality Semenovsky, who published the statement on Twitter.
She urged other municipal deputies to join the statement.
“We, the municipal deputies of Russia, believe that the actions of President V. V. Putin are detrimental to the future of Russia and its citizens.”
“We demand Vladimir Putin’s resignation as President of the Russian Federation!” reads the text of the petition, signed by about 20 deputies.

Any official dissent in Putin’s Russia is remarkable.
First it was just one city and now it’s eighteen. I imagine that number will grow to several hundred in a week or so.

It would have been stupid of a reporter in Berlin to write anything against Hitler. Likewise in any other dictatorship. I wouldn’t have “approved” of anything that happened to them as a result. My point was, she must have been incredibly stupid or unbelievably brave to say and write the things she said and wrote. She certainly wasn’t the first person to come to a bad end because of Putin. My feeling at the time was she’s an academic like Obama who was tone deaf to the politics around her. Liberals seem blissful and situationally unaware.
I recently read a commentary on the eight highly placed oil and gas executives who, since January were variously murdered, “committed suicide,” or fell out of their hospital window. As the commenter said, “It’s impossible that Putin wasn’t at least made aware this was going to happen as no one would dare do it without his blessing.” He theorized that their positions and money were going to people who were even more controlled and loyal to Putin.
That’s the way Russia is and has been for at least twenty years. It is a return to Stalinist governance except Stalin had them arrested, tried and then shot. (Although, not always in that order.) Putin doesn’t need any legal niceties which even Stalin liked to keep so he had the veneer of legality.
Kind of reminds me how the media made 81 million votes out of those empty circles at Biden Rallies.

and Chechnya. Russia will get smaller then China
will come to take them over with there massive
advantage in soldiers.
Good thing they were in Russia. In Ukraine opposition parties are outlawed and SBU would arrest anyone signing such a statement against Z.
The title says “18 more deputies”. So how many were in the first batch? I see elsewhere there are a little more than 1600 districts. What makes this minority so courageous, or is this the start of a flood and they collectively sense that? All it needs is a little push or loud noise to start the avalanche? Also, how far is Belgorod from the border and what Ukraine Oblast(s) is nearby? Could these blasts near Belgorod by Russian setups to justify tactical nukes?
So you are suggesting that Ukes could target these rail lines while only using conventional artillery, cause minimal collateral damage, and avoid a tactical nuclear penalty?
Bets on how many of these fellows have fatal accidents soon?

If they want to be friendly with the West and stop bullying, Putin’s self-deposition would be an alternative to Russia being governed by NATO for a while.
gee, sign a petition. I’m sure that the Black Dolphin Prison is getting ready for some new occupants.....or the morgue.
Signing that petition is just as stupid as “joining” the Oath Keepers, Republican Party, (insert name) militia, or any other “anti government” organization.
All you are doing is providing those in power with a list to check off when they get desperate. They’ll be the first ones put up against the wall.
