Russia hits power stations after Ukraine counteroffensive
KRMG ^ | 9-11-22 | KARL RITTER and HANNA ARHIROVA

Russia attacked power stations and other infrastructure Sunday, causing widespread outages across Ukraine as Kyiv’s forces pressed a swift counteroffensive that has driven Moscow's troops from swaths of territory it had occupied in the northeast.

The bombardment ignited a massive fire at a power station on Kharkiv's western outskirts and killed at least one person. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denounced the “deliberate and cynical missile strikes” against civilian targets as acts of terrorism.

Ukraine’s second-largest city of Kharkiv appeared to be without power Sunday night. Cars drove through darkened streets, and the few pedestrians used flashlights or mobile phones to light their way.

Separately, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in the Russia-occupied south completely shut down in a bid to prevent a radiation disaster as fighting raged nearby.

The last 48 hours has been non stop talk about incredible Ukraine advances... As far as I can tell Russia just took another step towards total war. We have no idea how this will end. Several of the scenarios go nuclear.

Maybe Ukraine’s supporters in California can give them some pointers on how to cope without power.

This cannot be said often enough, or loudly enough.

Escalation goes both ways.

It is bad for both sides.

There are reports of the power being back on in some places.

The net footage from the Kharkhov CHP looked like a fire in the transformer yard. It could have been a lot worse if one or two of them commie-supplied LMZ turbogenerator sets had been taken out.

I have my doubts that Zelenskyy is in country, but if he is he better find a safe landing elsewhere. People are fed up with his war

Just looks like sour grapes at this juncture.

Should have blacked out the entire Ukraine in the first 72 hours of the invasion. It might have saved a lot of lives.

“against civilian targets”

The Russians are so ignorant!

Don’t they know hamsters are used to generate electric power for Ukrainian war production and that horses pull trains with NATO country-supplied munitions!

When the Russians have taken the territory they want, they might just silence their artillery, inviting Ukraine to accept the situation.

William...let’s see:
Scenario 1: Russia scuttles a Ukrainian nuclear reactor to cover their withdrawal... C2
Scenario 2: Russia determines tactical nukes are acceptable given the level of external intervention
Scenario 3: Putin determines his only chance of survival is escalating into the nuclear realm:
Scenario 4-10 unknown.
We have no idea how this is going to end. Our intelligence agencies are perfect so far predicting what is going to happen 3 weeks out... 0-10. That is what happens when the entire international national security establishment is corrupt and the President was elected through industrial scale voter fraud.

True, but both sides will have to muddle through without any help from us. It’s not our fight.

Putin hoped for a cakewalk, but 31 years of Ukrainian independence have forged a Ukrainian national identity.

There are some Ukrainians that might long for a new Soviet Union, but the Soviet Union didn’t deserve to be duplicated.

It was an Associated Press report with a dateline from Kiev.
