You know it has been mentioned before, but in our combination locked safe/filing cabinets we had a number of loose cover sheets and folders marked, Top Secret, Secret, or Confidential, in the front of the drawers so that documents could be covered with them as needed when we took them back to our desks to read them.   That is normal to protect classified material.   Come to think of it, most of the time when I took material out of the cabinet, it was to replace and correct errata updates.   We had to line out text or replace pages and initial and date the lined out or replaced information.   Then file the errata paper in the back of the book or file.

Most of the Top Secret material I used was burned the day after we used them.   At one station the material was kept in the walk-in vault and we had a big Floggers coffee can we put the punch cards in and lit them up with a cigarette lighter.   Another station I worked in had an industrial incinerator down the hallway we carried our burn bags to.   The attendant used a crane to open the incinerator door and we tossed the bags in.

Of course for every piece of paper there was a receipt we had to initial or sign with a witness to confirm that it was properly destroyed.   We always worked in pairs so we swapped out doing the action or being the witness.

In these articles it seems that the Federal Agents have no clue how classified material is handled or the journalists are being snookered.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see the FBI go there. Nothing would surprise me how low they would go. Their track record includes falsification of evidence, witness tampering, intimidation, murder, and blackmail.

Yeah, I originally just watched the video without reading the article. Since they were also loading a lot of luggage along with the boxes, it didn’t look like a rush job just to hide the documents, more like an extended working vacation. And it was amusing that the article conspiratorially suggested that the boxes “looked like the boxes of classified documents” whereas they also looked like 50 million other storage boxes, including three or four in my garage.

Video from May 8, 2021 shows Trump boarding a jet from Florida to Bedminster with multiple boxes bearing a strong resemblance to boxes of top secret materials found at Mar-a-Lago. On May 6, NARA had contacted Trump’s team saying documents were missing and may be at Mar-a-Lago.

I already explained - long before your "Duh" insult - that I originally viewed the video but didn't read the story. It didn't initially occur to me that the authors would try to suggest that a flight in 2021 would have some connection to a raid more than a year later. I also noted that because a lot of ordinary luggage was also loaded onto the plane - apparently with Secret Service looking on - it looked more like the plane was being loaded for an extended working vacation rather than a panicked removal of secret documents.

Also, when I asked people how they knew that the flight was from 2021, I did not adopt the snide tone that you used.
