Barr has made his personal fortune from being in and around “offical” Washington (the Deep State). His sole motivation is self-preservation and a continuing ride on the DC gravy train.

If Barr aided and abetted the concealment of the Hunter Biden laptop...

He needs to be tried and sentenced for Treason.

Barr is breaking from Trump for a good reason.

The Russiagate information, and his lack of control of the DOJ and FBI at best makes him look complicit or incompetent. He doesn’t want the truth out there anymore than the Democrats.

Barr had the opportunity to stand up, get the truth out, and save the Republic. The FBI, DOJ, NSA, CIA scandal was enough of a political nature of government and shake people confidence in government. Barr could have done something, instead he took at least an ostrich approach. Now, he wants to keep that buried.

Don’t forget his friend of the court brief defending Horiuchi for killing Vicki Weaver. Probably has a lot to hide too.

My concern with this line of reasoning (take the high road - unless I’m misunderstanding) is that this is how we have always played the game, and look where we are at?

On the brink of some combination of fascism and communism.

I contend that we must stop being nice. I’m not saying we should be evil, like our enemy, I am saying we should stop being nice and friendly. Time to take off the kid gloves.

I like how Trump played it. I don’t believe that there was any way it could have been played resulting in Trump sill in the White House. Whether his approach was effective is still playing out.

Thank you for your reasoned response.

As I see it, it has nothing to do with taking the high road, being nice, etc. It has everything to do with being clever, and building a winning coalition.

There are, unfortunately, too many folks in the middle who vote not on the issues but on feelings. They don’t like mean tweets, even if those tweets are full of common sense. That’s dumb, but their votes count as much as ours do.

So Trump (and other conservative politicians) need to figure out a way to attract those voters without betraying any core principles.

Reagan was a master at that. Trump is not. At least not yet.

Great post. Too often, accurate statements about how some voters react negatively to Trump's style generate personal insults from some Freepers. As you said, the votes of those who are easily offended count just as much as the votes of us who aren't.

Nobody is suggesting that Trump change his position on substantive issues to appeal the swing voters. But if you can maintain your position on substantive issues while not needlessly alienating some swing voters, that's obviously the best route to go.

I think it’s the laptop that has him worried, and therefore, very negative and vocal right now.

Well, I see your point. Admittedly, I do not understand the people in the middle. People tell me about them, Rush talked about them. The media talks about them (the “undecideds”). I hear about the mean tweets and how it hurts their feelings.

But you know what? Thinking about it just now... I have never met one! Never had the opportunity to talk to one and ask them why they are on the fence.

I can’t fathom how the convo would go!

Undecided: I’m undecided.

Me: The choice is, a guy who said Maxine Waters is low IQ, or the guy that has threatened death to his enemies... which is half the country.

Undecided: Yeah, I’m still not sure.

Me: Is Maxine Waters low IQ?

Undecided: Yeah.

Me: I agree. She also threatened violence on her enemies. Do you want to die?

Undecided: No. But I’m just not sure.

Maybe these folks are out there. I am going to make it my mission to find one, I’ll let you know if I do and what they say.
