Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on Thursday said Russia’s strategic objectives in its attack on Ukraine have “been defeated.”
“The war is not over, but so far the Russian strategic objectives have been defeated,” Milley said at a news conference alongside Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

Duh. I knew that after about 2 weeks of putin’s disaster.
“Denazification” and “demilitarization” we’re the two stated objectives at the start. These are being met.
Bad news for the Ukraine
don’t like this guy, but he IS correct this time ...
Russia tried to capture all of Ukraine - failed
Russia tried to make the Ukrainian Government collapse, and the Army lose its will to fight - failed
the whole operation was supposed to be over in 1 month, before Western countries had any time to organize in opposition - failed
the quick operation would ensure Russia maintained its reputation as a peaceful, civilized country - failed
operation was supposedly to stop NATO from expanding to Russia’s borders ... instead, Finland - acountry right on Russia border! - is about to enter NATO - so, FAILED
multiple failures by Russia! with more to come, because the same idiots are still in charge!!
I thought the Putinistas were still saying they haven't sent in the "varsity" players yet...
LOL! These are the dumbest people ever to occupy DC. And that’s saying something.
I tend to not believe anything this guy says but for once he is right.
Milley Vanilly was more authentic than this Milley Vanilly.
the insecurity of the Dictatorship
just like they can’t admit Ukraine nailed the Moskva with a missile, so they have to invent a non-believable eye-rolling excuse
or “someone smoking” set off a blast at an ammo dump
there’s always another excuse with these liars
I misread the title and thought it was a thread about Miley Cyrus’ next song.
Bad writing, didn’t scan.
Spetsnaz GRU be like a wrecking ball!
Wagner never hit so hard in love!
All Z wanted was to break Kho-kols!
See? Like that.
“don’t like this guy, but he IS correct this time ..”
I would like to think that our expenditures in the Ukraine war will lead to an outcome we “good guys” want, but I’m also thinking that Russia can take heavy losses and still prevail, and Russia’s got that natural gas and petroleum that Europe needs. And Russia might be getting assistance too, say, from China.
I just don’t know what’s going on.
“Russia tried to capture all of Ukraine - failed“
Many seem to think all of Ukraine was the goal, but I honestly do not believe that to be true. The numbers the Russians brought to the table do not back that up. Quite simply the Russians have to be at the extent of what is possible with the numbers involved.
Now Russia brings nearer thee quarters to a million to the table, then yes I would believe all of Ukraine was the goal…..but 200k? Well, let’s just say if they thought they could take all of Ukraine with 200k then they were delusional at best.
“The war is not over, but so far the Russian strategic objectives have been defeated,” Milley said
Pre-midterm spin for the administration.
No he isn’t right. Some of you try to pretend you don’t support the Biden agenda, but you really do because this guy is not on any side conservatives are on.
We don’t know who on the German General Staff planned this offensive — but they did an excellent job.
It looks more and more like their plan counted on the Ukrainian Government fleeing in terror, and the Army collapsing as a result* ... so when that didn’t happen and they fought back, all the Russian assumption were hooped
many of us here recall those first few days of the war, EVERYBODY figured it would be over in a week or two - Russia was a freaking superpower! 20 times the size of Ukraine! with giant masses of tanks and rockets that could roll all over Western Europe in weeks, what possible chance could tiny Ukraine stand??
except now we realize we were lied-to over the years, and the Russian abilities were severely overestimated, because tiny Ukraine is still alive
* proof - look at how much the Russians personally hate Zelensky, they blame him for the operation not succeeding since he didn’t run away
