Joe Manchin's Political Career Appears to Be Over (Jim Justice +15 in last poll)
Redstate ^ | 9/8/2022 | Redstate

Jim Justice is the current governor of West Virginia, a popular if not rather boring Republican figure. I’ve written on his missteps in the past, but overall, he’d be a vote for the GOP agenda. Meanwhile, Patrick Morrisey lost to Manchin the last go around after the Democrat scraped by with a three percent victory. It’s genuinely surprising to see him leading by double digits. As to Alex Mooney, I don’t know much about him, but he doesn’t seem to be the best option if the goal is to make Manchin pay the political debt he’s accrued.

+15?? Really? Can we trust this? I'm assuming they thought his seat was safe.

He doesn’t run again until 2024.

He’s not up until 2024 and a presidential election cycle… I wouldn’t trust any hypothetical poll that far out at all regardless of whether I liked what it said or not

Two years is more than enough time to politically destroy Jim Justice. If it were *this* November, different story.

Polls about the following election cycle are distractions and worthless.

Come on people. He’ll be 77. Aren’t you getting ahead of yourselves? Does it really matter?

He doubled the size of the IRS and voted for Biden’s gun control, just like Sinema.

I presume that the job offer is firm and that the check has cleared.

Just LOVE how Manchin just came out with some criticism of the IRS hiring & such! What a SHOCK!

Everyone of the damn rat senators voted to expand the IRS by 87,000 lock-step voters. Of all the disgusting crap in the bill including the solar giveaways, the IRS expansion galls me the most. The republicans should scream all the way to election day and rub the commie noses on this issue til they bleed.

I agree.

I will say, depending on Joe Manchin to save the Republic by not voting for more money was like the time a group of people stranded somewhere said “Bill will save us. He said he was going to show up before the flight with everyone’s tickets” but everyone knew if it was Bill, he was going to be three hours late and there would be no tickets.

The only way Manchin saves his hiney is to beg to join the GOP Caucus in the US Senate.

One scenario I love it may be possible if the GOP picks up Senate seats in November is to boot out Lisa Murkowski if she cheats her way back in the US Senate on Ranked Choice Voting.

Then Murkowski is replaced by the repentant Joe Manchin and I think he will have to do penance to survive.

Too bad he will retire. We will not be able to see him get crushed. I guarantee this sellout got a golden parachute type of deal out of this.

I’m told Justice has some severe medical problems and that’s why he won’t challenge Manchin. I am not much of a fan of Justice, but I prefer him to Manchin.

I am also not sure it would be that easy for Justice to win. He has some past huge business ethics problems that have not really been that well circulated. They’re not secret, there have been some news stories about them. However, they never developed any long-term legs. I am still surprised that they are relatively unknown.

I actually don’t think Manchin will run for another term. I used to think he would be a Byrd and die in office. Now I am no longer convinced of that,

>>Come on people. He’ll be 77. Aren’t you getting ahead of yourselves? Does it really matter?<<

These people don’t leave unless it’s feet first. All of the top offices are held by those pushing or passed 80...He could still be a spry 83 year old candidate in 8 years...
It’s time for term limits...

Exactly and that is what Manchin and all RINOs count on.
