On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Senate Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) said that “We don’t know how many Afghans are in this country who pose a national security threat” and that “we just hope” that the few dozen we know of based on statements by the FBI are being monitored.
Portman stated, [relevant remarks begin around 4:35] “In terms of the Afghan refugees, all of us want to take care of the Afghans who helped Americans, who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us, the interpreters, and so on. But remember that chaotic withdrawal, a lot of people got on those airplanes who had nothing to do with the U.S. presence there. And we brought them to the United States without properly vetting them. And that’s what the Inspector General has now said. It was pretty obvious. We all knew this was going to be a problem. We don’t know how many Afghans are in this country who pose a national security threat, but we know that there are a few dozen, based on what the FBI has told us. And we just hope that they’re being monitored, we don’t have an issue with that. So, that’s why the IG report today was so important and really will be surprising to a lot of people who haven’t followed this.”

If the best he can do is hope, he should resign in disgrace
Hope is not a....oh never mind.
“And we just hope that they’re being monitored”
HAHAHA!
What is this guy expecting? Running a web search to see if one of them blew something up?
I would not expect that much.
.
Rob, don’t come back to Ohio. Just stay in DC with the rest of the swamp.
Personally these afghans don’t look threatening. Just sayin.’

Well, at least a US Senator has “Hope” that our government which is clearly targeting patriots gives two chicken droppings worth of care if there is a terrorist attack that could have been avoided if we promoted and supported competent leaders in our Military Industrial Complex. Instead we have promoted compliant political fools... fat, lazy out of standard tranny hugging fools are leading the DOD, CIA, FBI and CIA.
.
Brett Baier had to go!
He can’t figure out that Bipartisanship always end in a Pro-Dem bill, and that when Politicians say we are here to get something accomplished - that means more and more Debt.
Beltway Baier is CNN material.
Forget it. They run wild in America while our FBI torments Trump and decent Americans who didn’t vote for that sleazebag in the White House.
They have no time to monitor Biden’s Afghan imports that you RINOs also wanted here.
They aren’t “white nationalist MAGA Republicans”, Rob. Of course they aren’t being monitored.
Riddle me this, why is someone in the country who pose a national security threat still here and in need of monitoring?
Hope is a strategy. Not a very effective one though.
I’d STILL be monitoring ill hand OH MY’s communication(s)
Oh, THAT Portman. Thought it was Natalie. /s
all of us want to take care of the Afghans who helped Americans
Speak for yourself. They were paid and paid very well. The interpreter I dealt lives in the DC area and owned his own business. His parents came to the US decades before, I assumed sometime during the Russian invasion or soon after. He told me he wanted to help. I guess the fact that he was making some serious money didn’t play into any of that. /sarc.
Talk to any of the others it was “I want to help my country/people”.
That country is sitting on, perhaps, trillions in metals. That country had 20 years to figure it out. That country rolled over for the Taliban in about 2 months once it started reclaiming provinces.
Did CornPop leave a ton of gear over there? Yes. But let’s not forget about all the weapons and gear that had been given to the afghanis, who then handed all of it over as soon as the Taliban showed up. Or, pledged allegiance to the same.
Eff them. Everyone one of them needs sending back and a complete redo on who comes to the US is done.
“..We don’t know how many Afghans are in this country who pose a national security threat ..”
We all watched the exodus in real time and kept up with the debacle. The State Department was denying permission for American citizens and the Afghans who worked with our troops permission to even come to the airport. They were transporting every tom, dick and harry who could get into he airport. They are all to be considered security risks, not just a dozen.
Monitored? I guarantee a group of them are being groomed by the FBI right now to carry out a future fundraiser.
Yeah, Rob, they are being monitored....
By the FBI, who will monitor them until they need to give them some weapons and MAGA hats and set them loose on the American People for a false flag attack.
You beat me to it.
