Suburban antipathy to density is why suburbia exists. Morons. Not everyone likes high-density areas. Every moron out there who pushes for high-density affordable housing needs to be forced to live in high-density affordable housing for a minimum of five years before they can start to shill for it again.
Affordable Housing is an Orwellian euphemism for Government Housing Projects.
I mean what's to object to? The increased property and violent crime? The garbage on the streets? The noise? The drivers without licenses or insurance?
Just make sure the first "affordable" housing units are next to the mayor's residence.
“Affordable Housing” is the new word for ‘SLUM’................
I have an idea Connecticut, vote for more dems!
Not everyone likes high-density areas. The folks who really like the community, but complain they can't find anything they can afford, don't like high-density areas, either. And as soon as affordable housing is built for them to move into the community will turn around and fight against any more affordable housing being built, to keep it from "destroying the character of the community".
It's a case of "I got mine, screw you".
Liberals gonna be liberals. We voted in the people who pimp this stuff, but we don’t want it near us.
Less money for legal challenges, more money for boiled rope.
There needs to be some kind of constitutional amendment that mandates this be done in some way for everything the Left proposes.
For too long, as Thomas Sowell points out, they have not had to experience the consequences of the policies they support.
Make all of the “beautiful people” areas of Fairfield, Westport, Darien et al.. Look more like Waterbury, Bridgeport and Hartford!!
Funny how the educator wants to move up and live in Fairfield. complains about an hour commute.
While at the same time, probably 90% of the parents of those kids spends 3hrs+ per day commuting into NYC to be able to afford living in those towns.
The new “affordable housing” projects are usually fine in the first year or two—with law abiding citizens moving in....
Then suddenly the crime wave starts—and it is a mystery.
The secret is that the “nice family” decides to invite a nephew from the hood to come visit for a few days...
and the rest is history.
Woketards are going to wring their hands for affordable housing until they realize that the affordable housing is coming to their backyards and then they go NIMBY.
Hypocrites!
To the people who live there, the housing IS affordable. They don’t want to be invaded by hood rats and meth labs. “Affordable housing” is woketard for slums.
Now if you're talking "inner city" housing...that's a whole different ballgame.
Hell...the copper plumbing was gone before they finished building them in a nearby city.
like anything wi the word Gardens or Court in the name
Stick an “affordable housing” unit in the suburbs means that the area surrounding the unit becomes a target for crime.
Criminals from the unit are not going to target fellow housing unit residents, they will go steal and carjack from the suburbanites.
Probability model for crime in “the hood”

Summary
We have modeled violent victimization of whites in a racially mixed neighborhood. Our model is based on data collected by the Justice Department and reported in the NCVS. It paints a bleak picture for whites. As a neighborhood turns black, violent victimization of its white residents begins immediately. At first the risk is small, not much different from its previous all-white level. However, by the time the neighborhood reaches the half-black point, every white family of four has better than a one in three chance of being victimized within a year.
Two factors account for black-on-white violence.
1) Blacks are 3 times more likely to commit violent crime than whites, and
2) black thugs prefer white victims, selecting them 64 times more than white thugs choose black victims.
Most of the risk faced by whites, results from the predilection of black thugs to prey upon whites. As a neighborhood becomes overwhelmingly black, the risk curve for whites rises to ominous heights. In the last stages of transformation, the likelihood of a white being victimized within a year becomes a virtual certainty.
As Rush used to say, “bringing da hood to you.”.
Pro tip for liberal Connecticut voters -
If you don’t want the low rent housing built in your neighborhood, don’t (continually) vote liberal.
