The UK is significantly expanding a training programme in Britain to turn potentially tens of thousands of Ukrainian recruits into frontline soldiers to fight Russia, Sky News has learnt.
The combat course is being extended in length to five weeks from three weeks, keeping more of the training in the UK, away from the threat of Russian missile strikes - a hazard for anyone learning how to become a soldier at sites inside Ukraine, it is understood.
Some 4,700 personnel have already been through the training at military bases in the north, southwest and southeast of England since it began in June, with commanders intending to continue the support for as long as Ukraine needs new troops to fight Russia's invasion.
Military instructors from eight other countries, including New Zealand, Sweden and the Netherlands, have joined with their British counterparts to provide the expanded training mission.
Ben Wallace, the defence secretary, said it demonstrated "our shared resolve to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine".

I’ve noticed the Ukrainian KIA come from all segments of their society. You have intellectuals, educated city folk and villagers. There is nothing similar on the Russian side. It’s poor ethnic minorities, mercs, prisoners, bus station drunks, etc. The male population of the occupied territories is being press gang conscripted by Russia and wiped out. I’m sure Putin considers that a bonus, too.

The continental army didn’t face cruise missile strikes on its troops and it was also smart enough, thru gen. Washington, to avoid major engagements with the British; basically employing strategies of asymmetrical warfare.
You obviously don't know much about the Revolutionary War, do you, Comrade Flick?
1) The Citizen Soldiers of Washington's Army had to face the bayonets of the mighty British war machine, and generally broke and fled before Von Steuben arrived and trained them to stand toe to toe with the Red Coat Regulars;
2) It's a myth that Washington avoided major engagements with the British. If so, then there would have been no battles of Long Island and Manhattan, Trenton and Princeton, Brandywine and Germantown, and finally Yorktown, with a bunch of smaller engagements in between (like Bennington and Stony Point). And then there were the battles fought by his peers and subordinates like Saratoga (Gates and Arnold), Cowpens (Morgan), and Guilford Court House and Eutaw Springs (Greene).
US Army basic training = 10 weeks.
UK, etc. doing nothing more than training Ukrainian cannon fodder.

The fighting style of the colonists was to not engage British troops in lined formations. They preferred to be “ungentlemanly” and would instead take opportune attacks, hiding behind trees, etc.
Washington technically “lost” most engagements, but he preserved his forces and kept engaging in skirmishes. If he had ever attempted a massive battle, it would have played into the strength of the British.
Much the same guerrilla tactics were employed by Queen Boudica against the superior Roman army. Her failure came when she launched a single large battle against the Romans.
