California’s electric car mandate could spread to over a dozen states

More than a dozen states are debating whether to adopt California's plan to ban new gas cars by the year 2035.

Several of the 17 states are likely to move forward with the plan, including Washington, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon and Vermont. California's restrictions are the strictest in the country, mandating that all new vehicles run on either electricity or hydrogen by 2035.

The mandate is facing fierce pushback in states like Minnesota, where the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association argues the weather prohibits the use of solely electric vehicles.

Did I read correctly that there aren’t enough rare Earth metals on this planet needed for the batteries to sustain an electric vehicle for every person in California, let along the entire country?

No worries. We can use public transportation. That's what they do in Pyongyang.

Try not to worry.

By 2035, the impossibility of this project will have been clear for many years, and either the California Legislature will extend the deadline to 2040, then 2045, and so on, or the Military Government of the Territory of California will have eliminated this and many other foolish actions of the Legislature of the Former State of California.

“More petroleum products for me!”

Then you should now have all of the leaded 101 octane you want, right?

When something gets banned, it largely disappears, at least at the volumes that gasoline sells at, now.

At least this is what I am thinking. This law is for nothing other than to make people suffer.

Correct, and there are also not enough child slaves to dig the cadmium and cobalt out of the ground in Africa with their bare hands.

These laws are not written by anyone with scientific knowledge let alone common sense.

People can’t afford electric vehicles, they cannot tow a load even 100 miles, they take a lot of mining for the minerals to make them and the electricity to power them has to come from somewhere and transmitted by upgraded utilities.

And after 100,000 miles you have to pony up $10,000-$25,000 for a new battery, more than the car is worth.

The technology just is not there. The politicians are so far out there in la-la land they will destroy the American economy and thus our military power.

This has to be intentional. There can’t be this many stupid people.

It’s all part of Rudi Dutschke’s “long march through the institutions” strategy. The government is the latest institution to completely fall.

And the mandaters will be voted right out of office when they try it.

It’ll be so unpopular, they won’t be able to cheat enough to overcome the margins.

Mandate electric cars then ration electricity. It’s not hard to see the brilliance in this scheme. It’s right up there with crush the petroleum industry industry to drive up fuel prices and wreck food production to create food scarcity. Do all of these things while flooding the economy with worthless currency to destroy purchasing power. Then rant and shriek about everybody who criticizes you and accuse them of undermining democracy.

My guess is there won’t be any 20 year old EVs. When the battery fails they will be junk.
