Michael Burry, the hedge fund investor made famous in the 2015 film “The Big Short,” suggested Wednesday that a long-feared stock market crash is already underway.
Burry, who predicted more than a year ago that stocks were headed for “the mother of all crashes,” delivered his latest warning alongside a graph showing the S&P 500’s sharp decline since hitting an all-time peak in January.
“And yet I keep getting asked ‘wen crash?’” Burry said in a now-deleted tweet captured by the @BurryArchive Twitter account.

Well at least this year Elul 29 doesn’t happen on a trading day.....

Yep, it’s September. As there has been for many years, there will be an October bear event. Probably will not be the end of the world.
I heard the best thing to do is sell everything and sit on your money for a couple of years, until all the bad debt has worked its way out, and then buy back in.
It’s also my understanding that is what Joseph Kennedy did and he made millions.
Where’d the Plunge Protection Team go?
I liked Christian Bale’s portrayal as Burry.
I look forward to the wasteland and becoming Lord Humungus.
Except just for black and Hispanic people.
Bad things have to happen before November election.
I realize Satan is working day and night to help the Dems and Communists. We have to have some victories somewhere, though, right?
Earlier last week I heard the little 3 minute Fox radio news woman gush excitedly “the Dow was up again 300 points” 2-3 days as if we are to celebrate the Commie Dem takeover together. Dependence on foreign oil then banning of gas cars, destruction of individual rights, banana republic tormenting of Trump and us.
Screw them. I want to see bad people suffer. Down with the Dems.

FWIW history.com claims he shorted the crash:

He may have shorted it by his actions, but it’s my understanding is that he was able to read the tea leaves and get out.
He sold everything in August, 1929.
Yes, so they can buy houses that they can lose again and have their mortgages bought up at a discount once again.
September is historically the worst month for the market.
I liked Christian Bale’s portrayal as Burry.

Bale might get the role in the Big Short II after the crash.

Wow, a quote for the ages and very topical.
I agree that the economic outlook is grim but am inclined to believe that stocks will hold their value better than cash.
how are his water futures doing?
The closer you can get to commodities, the more of your wealth you’ll get to keep, I believe.
“He sold everything in August, 1929.”
And went short.
This was the bare foot guy, correct?
