A pregnant Texas woman who claimed she was entitled to drive in a high occupancy vehicle lane because of her unborn child received another ticket for the same offense, authorities said Tuesday.
Brandy Bottone, a 32-year-old Plano resident, became an unlikely focal point of the nation's post-Roe debate after she was pulled over in a carpool lane June 29.
A sheriff's deputy cited her for driving alone in the HOV lane that requires drivers to have at least one other person in the car — and Bottone claimed that the one other person was the unborn child in her womb.
She insisted that with the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade on June 24, her unborn child now was recognized as a living person.
Her argument was apparently good enough to win a dismissal. It wasn't immediately clear if that second ticket, picked up Aug. 3, would also be kicked out.
The deputy knew exactly who she was.
“You again?” Bottone quoted the deputy as saying.
“So, when are you going to have this baby?” the deputy allegedly asked.
“Tomorrow,” Bottone said she answered.
“Oh, good luck,” she quoted the deputy as saying before issuing her the ticket.
This is a very clear case of harassment
Nice try.
The unborn is a human being right?
“The unborn is a human being right?”
Yep, so below a Cretan weight or age, it should have been in a car seat. Right? Ticket her for that...
She wants “Personhood” for the Unborn?
OK. I’ll take that any day.
Shoot a pregnant person, killing both the woman and fetus. You will be charged with two murders. The State cannot have it both ways, yet they try.
The HOV lane is supposed to be about encouraging people who would otherwise not rideshare to rideshare. Children, born or unborn, should not be counted for purposes of the HOV lane.
It was in one. And why you so horny to give a pregnant woman a ticket? There cop is a bottom feeder.
I’m with Brandy.
The law is technical. There’s two people in the car.
I agree with her. Here in Texas if a pregnant woman is murdered it’s to counts of murder. The Law must be consistant in order to be valid.
Arghhh, the Road Pirate must meet their ticket quota, pregnant lady or not. Got to be filling the coffers with citizen’s booty.
I disagree with the posters here. She’s an ahole, in my opinion, just wallowing in her fleeting self-perceived fame. Another poster got it right that the purpose is to encourage ridesharing. Cop sees someone in the HOV lane, he’s supposed to write a ticket

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Sorry, but you couldn’t be more wrong.
Either the baby in side her is a person (correct), or the baby is not (incorrect).
From a moral standpoint, pure legality aside, we need to be cutting pregnant mothers some slack. But that is NOT a dodge from the real issue.
Man I didn’t know that they even enforced things like this.
Everyday driving up and down 45 from conroe to the belt all I see in the HOV lane is singles.
Is the un-born child a licensed driver? No? Then stay out of the HOV lanes, that’s what they originally were designed for - commuters carpooling.
Nope. It clearly says 2 or more on the entrance to HOV lanes.
After 8:00 am its $4.50 per....
The last one was kicked out and they still gave her anther ticket. Targeted harassment.
Also HOV lanes are BS and should be illegal.. Everyone’s tax dollars paid for them and everyone should be able to use them.
