Zelensky meets with UN nuclear watchdog chief ahead of delegation's visit to Zaporizhzhia plant

Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky met with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi on Tuesday, according to a press officer with Zelensky’s office.

The meeting came as Ukraine and Russia continue to accuse each other of shelling the area around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant ahead of a planned visit by a delegation of the IAEA, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, later in the week.

Zelensky told Grossi that the IAEA’s mission in Ukraine is “urgent” and that Ukraine wants its team to do more than carry out an inspection at the plant.

Zelensky said that he hoped the delegation would “find an opportunity, thanks to our special services, thanks to the security corridors, to get to the station, and do the best to avoid all those threats on a global scale.”

I understand Zelensky is going to explain where Ukrainian artillery strikes damaged the structure.

it’s very simple, the impact holes in the roof tell which direction the rounds came from... which direction is that???

Hopefully Zelensky makes it clear that if the world does not support him against Russia, that the Ukraine will stop merely threatening to destroy a reactor. “Help us or the Ukraine will unleash nuclear disaster.”

That should wake up the UN.

As much as I am no fan of the U.N. this is a time when they should have stepped up and sent their Blue Helmets in with a independent team to run the reactor.
And it should be made clear that any aggression from either combatants would be met with the destruction of all military equipment with in a 200 mile radius.

More likely it’s to get questions as well as answers.

Ukraine will want the investigators to consider the claims - coming from inside Enerhodar - that the Russians on site are

1. Going to block the inspectors’ access to parts of the plant already (alleged) to have been rigged to blow, used illegally as a shield for offensive action, and/or been damaged by Russkies.

2. Blackmailing the civilian workers by holding family members hostage to ensure they don’t say anything bad to the inspectors

3. Interfering with the safety operations, e.g. by working civilian monitors to exhaustion, beating the staff up, or tampering with the systems

4. Putting tanks and munitions right next to a reactor. A row of tanks appeared to be parked up alongside one of the reactors over the weekend (satellite imagery) - and that seems to vindicate the Ukes’ smuggled out footage showing a tank right outside the doors and at least five vehicles INSIDE the building.

As for answers on what Ukraine has hit there, given that Ukraine’s already said they’re hitting

1. the Russian grid infrastructure that Russia is trying to connect it to

2. the military assets around Enerhodar, as opposed to INSIDE the plant

Russia should be able to provide unequivocal proof if the Uke assertions are true or not.
But, if Russians told the inspectors the sky outside is blue I’d be getting the Pantone color wheel out just to check, if I were them.

Since Russians don’t even seem to know how to tell a convincing lie - they come up with more contradictory stories for every event than a naughty five year old trying to claim they weren’t raiding the cookie jar - there’s another question worth asking.

Why are some people so hell-bent on taking Russia’s word for it no matter how convoluted the fake excuses get - while demanding proof that Ukraine isn’t lying despite dozens of witness statements, video footage from the scene of the action, and even satellite images that tally with the Uke account?

Trust, but verify - especially when it’s perfectly obvious that both sides are lying some of the time. At the moment I’d say it’s for Russia to disprove Ukraine’s accusations, not the other way round.

What do we know about the inspector?

The UN nations rejected Zelensky’s presentation of Russian war crimes by 2/3rds.

I don’t think sending troops or technical teams is done unilaterally. Russia is on the Security Council and the BRICS+ are a sizeable alliance.

From what little is available, he seems like a straight shooter. He seems to have a spine. I’m not familiar w/career paths in diplomacy, the UN, and nuclear security, but he went all the way up the ladder in what seems like a short time (about 9 years), altho he started from a diplomatic career position. He should have access to much intel on all the nuclear plants, all the countries/pols involved. Obviously the position requires more than technical expertise.

Does he report straight to the Security Council, or to the DG?

Only someone lying or really, really dumb can't figure that the Russians wouldn't be shelling a nuclear plant in a region they shed blood to liberate.

The Biden regime is complicit in the war crimes committed by the Ukrainians.

It's disgraceful that neocon, globalist freaks are the regime spread its propaganda.
