As schools reopen for the new year, the number of children enrolled in government schools is plummeting all across the United States amid an escalating exodus of families moving toward home education and private-school options. Government education officials are freaking out.

And...the real reason the education bureaucrats and teachers' unions are so concerned:
"Naturally, the Department of Education is scrambling to find ways to sucker families back into the system. 'Whenever a student doesn’t enroll in our public schools, we lose money,' NYC school boss Banks said. “And our schools are feeling that impact.”
The GOP needs to help keep this grassroots anti-public school movement going.
Awwwwwwww. /s
(me smiling)
NO funding will be cut, even if public school attendance drops to zero.
Public school unions are a key political and voting bloc for the Left.
I don’t know all the ins and outs of school financing, but, is part of this that, teachers could be laid off, if there are fewer students in the schools? Is the concern that teachers could lose their jobs?
If public schools would teach the core subjects and get away from all this progressive BS they’ve started, they would not have a problem...
They also launder a ton of it back into campaign donations.
Get woke...
Kids can teach themselves with a tablet more than any teacher in any school can now a days.
Dept. Of ( PervCommie) Education
must be defunded.
And those are not the migrants kids that are leaving, my guess is maybe 500,000 white/Asian kids have left. My ex is a teacher and ready to retire, she is thinking of taking 4-5 students per term to teach privately.
Great News Ping!
Oh, this is terrible.
How are the teachers going to pay for their Mercedes SUVs?/s
This is great news but I expect these blue states/cities to pass laws heavily regulating homeschooling in order to discourage it with threats and fines for non-compliance.
Maybe they should mandate that ALL public employee’s nationwide immediately enroll their children in the public school system or be terminated and have all pension and retirement benefits rescinded, to Save the Schools of course.
However, there are pockets of hope. Arizona has enacted a law where education dollars can go directly to parents. Those dollars can be used on homeschooling, private schools, parochial schools and other education options. When this type of law spreads to a majority of states, then government indoctrination centers will be forced into competition to survive. It’s the GOP that stands in the way.
Yes, that is huge.
I would be surprised to see teachers sitting in empty classrooms because of their union contracts.
A down side to this is that the parents whose children are no longer in the public schools will lose interest in purging the woke lunatics from them. In a large city like NYC of course it’s hopeless but I’m thinking of suburban schools.
Good point.
I think the major problem is government influence (i.e., MONEY) in our school systems. They (the Fed) will throw money hand-over-fist at schools for all manner of things: extra guidance counsellors, various management functions, school lunches and other ‘needy’ assistance programs administered by schools, and a lot of other means (e.g., any child whose parents had a federal job or federally connected job and were identified by the school qualifies that school system to get government funds for Fed-caused additional costs in education.)
The problem with all (the carrots) this comes the “stick.” DO THIS OR ELSE WE PULL FUNDING.
And the school boards, school administrators all-of-a-sudden start thinking about what they’d have to do without the money. They’d lose all their perks.
