An engine-cooling problem forced NASA on Monday to postpone for at least four days the debut test launch of the colossal new rocketship it plans to use for future astronaut flights back to the moon, more than 50 years after Apollo’s last lunar mission.
The space agency declined to set a precise time frame for retrying a launch of the mission, dubbed Artemis I. But a second attempt was still possible as early as Friday, depending on the outcome of further data analysis, senior NASA officials told a news briefing hours after the aborted countdown.

Launch teams had begun a “conditioning” process to chill the four main SLS engines sufficiently, but one engine failed to cool down as expected, NASA said. The flight was called off two minutes after the targeted launch time.

What a surprise! Who knew that NASA and all of its traditional contractors are nothing but a jobs program for useless nerds? Maybe the dweebs can push it to the Moon.
Poor NASA they are just yesterday’s news. I as sure a couple of old engineers with Slide Rules could figure it out and fix it.
This is a trump program. Figures the hardcore leftists on this site bash it
NASA never planned ahead and had a new and better designed craft ready after the Shuttle was over with. Their heyday was over 50 years ago, now they are just another government agency that can’t do their job any longer, I have no confidence in them at all. Give their funding to Musk, I am sure he will know what to do.
They’ve done better than you can. The Mars probes have been amazing. Was Apollo 1 their “best days” time frame?
They blew up a lot of rockets back then as well. Back then in the spcae race / cold war you never saw most of them, and then, not until decades later.
I am very pro-Trump but NASA, useless as they are, have only been able to send astronauts to space on Russian rockets for years because the whole organization is USELESS. SpaceX, through its excellence, has exposed how pathetic that NASA is.
The SLS program predates Trump and even Obama. This was a GW Bush program that is DECADES beyond the initial estimates.
It is only as late as it cause Obama canceled it and then trump revived it
Apparently, the entire program is put together with used parts from abandoned launches and old outdated equipment. So it’s a real big surprise that they have delayed the launch.
On this trip the capsule contains dummies, but on the next launch they will have real human dummies occupying the capsule.
As far as protecting your Explorers that's as bad as you can get.
However Salaries and Pensions were fully protected.
To me the space program has become a shiny object in the bread and circus campaign to divert attention from the corruption of the Deep State. Same with this UFO non sense. I couldn’t care less about rockets and space heroes.
No one’s bashing Trump.
Obama ruined NASA with muslim outreach.
Trump didn’t dream up Artemis. He may have suggested going to the moon but mostly just enabled NASA to get back to doing space stuff as best they could. Hopefully they’ll get the agency straightened out but it may be ruined by DEI, diversity, equity, inclusion. Right now, all they can talk about is getting the first woman and POC to the moon. That ought to tell you how things are with NASA now.
You have a point.
That’s ok, most of us couldn’t care less about your opinion.
Grow up. The progs will kill the "space program" once they are in power. It is a useless thing to the progs and a waste of money and should be used to better the peoples lives.
Even so - they skipped this part of the “dry run” and thought they could get away with it. NEVER leave something until launch day which you could (should) have tested “before” launch day.
Bad decision - hope that’s the last one.
Obama ruined NASA with muslim outreach.
That's the long and the short of it.
NASA has had problems, NONE of them caused by Trump.
