The hydrogen fuel cell uses hydrogen and air to generate electricity, producing only heat and water as tailpipe emissions. The reaction occurs across an electrochemical cell similar to a conventional battery cell, causing energy engines used to propel the vehicle forward.
Union minister of state for science and technology Dr Jitendra Singhsaid that if a diesel bus is compared to a hydrogen bus, it typically emits 100 tons of co2 per annum on long-distance routes, and there are millions of buses across the country, reports The Times of India. Also, a hydrogen fuel cell truck's operational cost is competitively lower than diesel buses which could bring about revolutionary changes across the nation. What Is A Hydrogen Fuel Cell The hydrogen fuel cell uses hydrogen and air to generate electricity, producing only heat and water as tailpipe emissions. The reaction occurs across an electrochemical cell similar to a conventional battery cell, causing energy engines used to propel the vehicle forward. Fuel cells work similarly to conventional batteries found in electric vehicles, but they do not run out of charge as they don't need to be recharged regularly with electricity. Their function is as long as there is a hydrogen supply.

Writer Simran Jeet:
Did they name it the Hindenburg?
How did Maharashtra get a bus in there?
All joking aside if they can make this work at close to the cost of a diesel bus, more power to them.
Many places in Asia and everywhere in India are so incredibly polluted. If you’ve never been there, you cannot even imagine how awful the air and water are.
Why am I not surprised that Maharashtra’s Pune is in the forefront.
I agree, but I want to know what produces the energy they're using to crack the water for the hydrogen.
So many people just don't get this.
(but I want to know what produces the energy they’re using to crack the water for the hydrogen)
Hey don’t spoil the fun by being all logical and stuff!
C’mon man!!
C’mon man!!
Besides that, I’ve been watching the Hydrogen powered vehicle crap since 1958. Let me know when it finally happens.
Yeah
To do it massively across even a single nation.....
“...producing only heat and water as tailpipe emissions...”
Climate murderers. Water vapor is a greenhouse gas and heat will only add to global warming.
I think there are some people here on FR who would not be satisfied until a vehicle was invented that ran on tap water and produced ice cubes and Irish whiskey as by-products.
The energy comes from the same place as Electric car batteries get.
From either coal, oil, solar, hydro or wind. India has abundent solar, lots of coal, lots of hydro, lots of wind, but very little oil.
The main purpose of EV’s is not to save energy. The main purpose is to reduce air pollution in densely populated cities. Americans who have never traveled to Mumbai or New Delhi have no concept of how bad the air is in those cities.
Just keep this simple statistic in mind. India as a whole country is 14 times more densely populated than United States. The big cities are just unbelievable. You can’t even walk on side walks in the evening in Mumbai. It is wall to wall people on sidewalks.
LOL so true and I am also putting my name on that waiting list.
Who caused the massive global warming which ended last ice age? There was so much ice in glacier form at the height of last ice age, Chicagoland was vovered with 4 mile high glacier ice.
The global warming which followed (long long before SUV’s or factories or fireplaces) melted all that ice and formed the biggest reservoir of fresh water on earth, which we call the Great Lakes. And no, Lake Baikal does not have more water than Great lakes, it is just deeper.
Make note that Sun is MILLION times bigger than puny earth. And Sun has cycles of hyper activity followed by lower activity. That is the cause of global cooling and global warming, no the puny man. Man is so puny, astronauts orbiting the earth can’t see any mad made objects during day light. During night time they can see faint glow of the lights in cities.
Who's Maharashtra and what's a Pune?
Set your Beebers to Pune!
Oh gosh, I guess I’m showing my age.
Main screen turn on...
Maharashtra is a Texas size state in India.
The 2 biggest cities in Mharashtra are Mumbai & Pune.
