Republican worries of a midterm flop are growing heading into the critical post-Labor Day campaign season, with analysts who had previously predicted massive GOP gains shifting their forecasts toward Democrats.
Rick Tyler, a Republican strategist and analyst, said the environment looks “not even close” to a red wave election year. “The enthusiasm is just not there,” Tyler said. “Last time Republicans had a good year, they were six points ahead in the generic poll. Now we’re barely two points ahead. So it’s definitely not going to happen.”

The country is in the toilet and they think majority Americans want to keep democrats in charge? The fix is in for key races
Biden has seen a some movement in his direction in all polls, but it’s not as much as this article presents, because most of the pollsters haven’t switched over to likely voters yet. The ones that always poll likely voters also show “some” movement towards Biden, but with Republicans still far ahead 5+ points.
They will continue to tout the “polls”. I say look at the number of GOP voter registrants versus the number of demooKKKrat registrants the past year.
States (Florida/Kentucky) where demoKKKrats outnumbered Republicans for decades are not GOP majority. Look at other areas where GOP voter registration has made huge gains
Because they are going to fix the elections and have to create reasons for why the terrible losses.
I've lost track how many times I've said this here on FR, and so here I go again:
Never *EVER* underestimate the ability of the Republican party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Not that I want that to happen (I most certainly do not!) I'm just a realist who's seen it happen again, and again, and again in my near 60 years on this planet.
Gas prices on the rise again. Let’s see what happens.
But I knew this was coming. I knew that as the election drew nearer the media and the polls would go full on “blue wave!!”
I cannot envision a circumstance where the media would ever project a red wave or GOP victory.
Mitch, Kevin, and Ronna want to lose. That’s fine with me. Let the American people suffer. They deserve it, for all their weakness, apathy and foolishness.
We have one political party masquerading as two. About 1/3 of the country understands this. Until at least 2/3 understand this, nothing will change.
“Last time Republicans had a good year, they were six points ahead in the generic poll. Now we’re barely two points ahead. So it’s definitely not going to happen.”
Latest Rasmussen poll has GOP plus 5.
Just remember that a “Republican” victory is not in any way “our” victory - it’s just the other faction of the Deep State taking over for a while. And I think there is a strong preference among the leadership of that half to stay in the minority until the full economic collapse unfolds. Once it does, they want to be able to come back as saviors without being subject to the dictates of a lot of new MAGA members - which is why they are fighting harder against Trump’s endorsees than they are against Democrats.
“The Hill” just doin’ its part to try and delude people into thinking that Democrats aren’t in deep trouble come this November.
Inflation...(through the roof)
Immigration....(army of illegals)
Insanity.....(of SlowJoe and the dims)
It’s the economy, Stupid.
—James Carville, 1992
They cook up fake polls Rasmussen gives the GOP a five point edge probably closer to the truth.
Can’t fix them all. These folks are toast. The country will still be a trainwreck in Nov. and the Democrats have no answers except to print money … good luck.
People here will just blame every Republican loss on "election fraud" and not the lousy candidates we ran.
Did anyone here expect the media and polls to show that the GOP would win?
The underlying issues decide elections. Well, they decide honest elections. Call me when they change.
What is missing in any of the media’s “NY-19” and “red wave crashes” articles is any discussion of the issue and how they have moved in the Dems favor. Instead, we get the gloss over and a “well, the GOP sucks so they will lose.”
Uh huh.
As I understand it there are more registered democrats in this country. Therefore democrats usually lead in the generic poll.
Therefore, for someone to say Republicans will have a bad year when they are 2 points ahead, is ridiculous.
And his reasoning is because they had a good year when they were 5 points ahead?
Where are the “good” candidates? Our biggest problem is good people don’t want to get involved in politics, and who can blame them?
The “press” is stirring this up. Cudaly of Trafalgar has an interview up this morning - there was a few point move to the Ds after the abortion decision, its now largely swung back to the Rs. He shows Vance way ahead in Ohio, Ron Johnson is up in WI, and the Ds seem to be at a disadvantage in Nevada, tied in GA, a bit ahead in AZ. The D pollster allies do this every year to diminish turnout for the Rs; the same people had Joe biden up 19 over Trump in Wisconsin in 2020 on the Sunday before the election - Senile Pops was only able to steal it by one half percentage points.
