On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said that while President Joe Biden’s student loan program is “more targeted than a bunch of the proposals that were out there” and will mostly help people making under $75,000 a year, it should have been targeted towards people going into hard-to-fill-jobs “instead of being hedge fund managers,” and “We’re not going to have a shortage of sports marketing degrees here.”

I actually agree with her. Why pay for gender studies when nursing is having shortages. Give them the 10 grand. I think you misinterpreted her response.
I sure did
I was catching up with a guy at church the other day and asked about his daughter.
“She’s a senior at xxxxx University.”
“Cool. What’s her major?”
“Film” with pride
“Oh. Cool”
Another useless degree.
Sound like she wants to bring back the National Defense Education Act, which gave tuition grants to students in STEM majors.
> Another useless degree. <
University students must do their own research into the value of a degree. But a big problem is that colleges will deliberately mislead incoming students.
Weak departments (film studies, sociology, etc.) need a steady stream of suckers to survive. So they will tell prospective students that the world will be theirs after graduation. Opportunities will be everywhere!
Such an argument is very seductive to an 18-year-old kid with no life experience.
She's not that logical. Eventually, the biggest discounts will be to those who get on the goverment service juggernaut.
So she’s saying some degrees are more valuable to society than others? Should neurosurgeons make more than gender studies majors? Is that equity? /s
We’re broke, staring down hyper-inflation and destruction of the world economy. Stop spending!.

Yeah, if you’re going to do it, then it should be targeted.
But the real point is that she’s in the legislature where this debate belongs. The empty husk has no right to unilaterally spend $500B.
Yeah, like, I want to be an airline pilot...and stuff.
"My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now."
Being responsible/rational has become totally irrelevant at this point.
It's about the blood-lust for power/control/wealth.
I’m struggling here. I seem to remember something about an earlier Biden saying she was a “hot, good-looking piece.”
Has his impression changed of her given this? Does he even know the difference? Does he even know where he is right now?
“why, I could teach you to remove an appendix in 3 days...”
The university my son graduated from had a 90 day employment guarantee.
If you do t het a job in your field at competitive pay within 90 days, they will pay for your Masters degree.
Of course, he went into astronautical engineering, not lesbian dance theory
I think I qualify for a Degree in napping. I am very good at it and well practiced. Surely there is a department store who had a bed in their window they need a demonstrator.
> The university my son graduated from had a 90 day employment guarantee. <
Good stuff. But I’ve read cases where colleges stretch that guarantee so much that it becomes meaningless. One school (I forget the name) guaranteed their business students relevant professional employment after graduation.
The problem was that they counted a minimum wage sales clerk job as “relevant professional employment”.
I post this as a warning to folks just entering college. Buyer beware.
Colleges offering advanced degrees in 'grievance studies' know few of their graduates will be employed in their field - or any field...
BUT, Stupid Degrees for Gullible People still brings in BIG TUITION DOLLARS. Being unethical and tacky and ripping off these young people is woven into academia - well, the 'liberal' side. So they could not make the offer your son received.
