I was catching up with a guy at church the other day and asked about his daughter.
“She’s a senior at xxxxx University.”
“Cool. What’s her major?”
“Film” with pride
“Oh. Cool”

University students must do their own research into the value of a degree. But a big problem is that colleges will deliberately mislead incoming students.
Weak departments (film studies, sociology, etc.) need a steady stream of suckers to survive. So they will tell prospective students that the world will be theirs after graduation. Opportunities will be everywhere!
Such an argument is very seductive to an 18-year-old kid with no life experience.
