White House Plays Dumb on Estimated $500 Billion Cost of Canceling Student Debt
Breitbart ^ | 08/26/2022 | CHARLIE SPIERING

White House aides repeatedly refuse to address the cost of President Joe Biden’s decision on Wednesday to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt.

“I can’t give you that off the top of my head,” White House director of domestic policy Susan Rice said Wednesday during the daily briefing when asked whether the administration had estimated the cost of the president’s decision.

She repeated the cost of the program would not be fully known until the federal government knew how many people would take advantage of it.

The president spent several months stalling a decision on canceling student debt, telling reporters he was waiting for further analysis about the impacts of the decision.

But after the decision was announced, his aides pretended they had no estimate of how much it would cost the American people

No, I really believe that the new WH Press Secretary is dumb as a stump.
She was only put into that position because she is Black woman lesbian immigrant.
At least with the previous Red Head she was a competent liar.
She was intelligent.

This lady is really dumb. IMHO.

Half a trillion. What ever happened to “equal protection under the law”? For us folks who paid off their (family) obligations, that is.

For all of the posturing that politicians love to do regarding alleged "price gouging", they are remarkably silent when it comes to college tuition and the rate at which it has dwarfed inflation.

Why aren't the heads of universities called to testify before congress regarding the astronomical tuitions, especially when many of these colleges have multi-billion dollar endowment funds? Why should the taxpayers be placed on the hook for student loans?

The colleges are charging way too much for a product that obviously is not worth the price if the students who take these loans are unable to get jobs that allow them to pay back the loans.

If you are 6 figures in debt for a degree in humanities with a minor in "gender studies" , you are setting yourself up for some serious financial pain. If there is no demand in the marketplace for your particular field of study, how do you expect to pay back your loan? Good vibes and "feelings" are not going to do it.

Everyone with a functioning brain cell can see that this is nothing but a bribe to get younger voters to the polls in November to vote for the rats.

My wife and I rented a VRBO in Inglis in April 2021. It was an absolutely wonderful 5 days! We were escaping from the “COVID” gulag that was NJ at the time. We are both lifelong residents of the once-beautiful state of NJ. It still sucks here, and we will definitely be leaving the state within the next 3 years or so, and cannot wait to get out.

....if you include
<><>the loss from no interest on these loans since 2020
<><>reduced interest and payments
<><>and write offs after 10 years of income -based payments instead of 20
<><> the cost is actually $1 trillion........

Biden used the HEROES Act of 2003 to justify this. It states the Secretary of Education can modify (perhaps cancel?) student loan debt in times of “war or national emergency.”

It’s the same law Trump used to start the pause on student loan payments, and the pause on interest, which has been in place since 2020.

Secretary DeVos’ OGC prepared a memo arguing the HEROES Act didn’t support outright cancellation, but Secretary Cardona’s OGC just prepared a memo arguing the opposite.

“”White House director of domestic policy Susan Rice””

Funny they’ve brought her out in front of the cameras and press. I don’t believe she’s shown her face since Biden put her in the WH. Salary $180,000 per annum. The hem and haw press secretary gets the same!

As if the democrats cared what their welfare programs have ever cost.

The schools will just raise their costs, making it less available for regular folks and of less value in the real world.
