Oz pounces on Fetterman for not committing to any debates; ‘Come talk to us’

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz’s campaign has seized on Democratic opponent John Fetterman’s silence on debates to continue attacking Fetterman for supposedly hiding from voters.

Oz has agreed to five debates, including one scheduled in less than two weeks, but Fetterman, who suffered a stroke on May 13 and only returned to the campaign trail earlier this month, has yet to commit to any debates.

“John is up for debating Oz and contrasting his plan and record with Dr. Oz so that Pennsylvania voters can get a real sense of where the candidates stand, but not on Oz’s desperate terms and timeline,” said Rebecca Katz, a Fetterman campaign senior advisor.

“This is just an obvious attempt to change the subject during yet another disastrous week for Dr. Oz,” Katz said.

So far, Oz has agreed to debates sponsored by:

KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Sept. 6 WFMZ-TV in Allentown and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, Sept. 9 Nexstar, which owns several TV stations in the state, on Oct. 5 Fox 29 in Philadelphia with Spotlight PA, date to be determined WGAL-TV in Harrisburg, date to be determined

In addition to an Aug. 12 rally in Erie, Fetterman, the state’s lieutenant governor, made an appearance earlier this week at a United Steelworkers rally in Pittsburgh, but he did not take any questions from reporters.

John Fetterman:

“Dr. Oz has agreed to five debates. John Fetterman has agreed to zero debates,” said Brittany Yanick, Oz’s communications director, in a statement on Monday.

“If John is too sick to debate and is concerned he cannot stand in front of cameras for more than 10 minutes, then he should just say so,” Yanick said. “We’re sure voters would understand and so would we.”

On Wednesday, the Oz campaign stepped up its efforts, releasing a statement that included a Twitter post by Fetterman during the Democratic primary.

“Debates are an important part of this primary,” Fetterman wrote, committing to three televised debates.

Oz’s campaign also dug up tweets from Fetterman’s primary opponents -- state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta and U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb of Allegheny County – razzing Fetterman for missing debates.

Late Wednesday, Oz made an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show during which she played a clip of Fetterman’s address to steelworkers with the chyron reading, “Fetterman mumbles and stumbles through speech.”

“The question we’re asking is a legitimate one,” Oz told Ingraham. “Are you hiding because you don’t want to talk about your radical views or is it because your health is such a problem? And, if it’s the stroke you had that’s causing issues, come talk to us. Let’s figure out some way that we can have a debate.”

Well if you are brain damaged and need a job that pays well and you don’t have to do anything, being a US senator is just the ticket.

If push comes to shove that’s with dr Ox should do. Debate an empty chair not just once do it three times. I believe that John Fetterman is such a bad candidate that the longer he stays in the race the better. Even though physically there’s going to be a point where he can’t get it up. Better later in the campaign than right now.

Exactly!

Put a monitor on the chair, structure the debate topics so you can have a Fetterman video saying something insane and socialist as his response. Oz replies with something reasonable move to next topic, and repeat!

Repeal the 17th Amendment!

If they do debate, I think Oz should show up in a hoodie.

Rose of Texas I’m all In. We got better than a 50-50 chance of winning this. We have a brain damaged opponent. Who is physically not fit to do the job. My only fear is that the Democrats will switch opponents in the middle of the race. Actually put somebody in there who is not damaged physically and mentally. John Fetterman is a big effing gift.

Depending on the area and side of the brain affected by the stroke, any, or all, of these functions may be impaired:

Movement and sensation
Speech and language
Eating and swallowing
Vision
Cognitive (thinking, reasoning, judgement).

The effects of a right hemisphere stroke may include:

Left-sided weakness or paralysis and sensory impairment
Denial of paralysis or impairment and reduced insight into the problems created by the stroke (this is called “left neglect”)
Visual problems, including an inability to see the left visual field of each eye
Spatial problems with depth perception or directions, such as up or down and front or back
Inability to localize or recognize body parts
Inability to understand maps and find objects, such as clothing or toiletry items
Memory problems
Behavioral changes, such as lack of concern about situations, impulsivity, inappropriateness, and depression

So all of these things are possible and he’s showing signs of some of these symptoms. John’s condition is hereditary he has cardiomyopathy he has difficulty pumping blood throughout his body. Because of the size of his body. He was diagnosed in 2017 never went back to his doctor. It was fixable he gets a stroke in May 2022. Because he failed to take care of himself. Genetics loaded the gun but lifestyle pulled the trigger.

Put blue plastic chickens in a million Pennsylvania yards.

Apply blue chicken stickers on the backs of cars.

If Fetterman is unwilling or unable to debate, the voters should know that.

Fetterman is on his "last leg" in a health-sense.

More than likely his NOT being able to answer this debate challenge will take that last leg out from under him and come election day he will be "gone with the wind."

“ “This is just an obvious attempt to change the subject during yet another disastrous week for Dr. Oz,” Katz said.”

Uh, “disastrous week”?

They are within the margin of error now, it’s not even Labor Day, Dems have spent tens of millions and Republicans have barely begun to fight.

Fetterman is toast. Oz not only wins, he wins big.
