Coming into New York City this summer, those monitors on the elevators (that flash the news) was always proclaiming a possible “record heat” day. As a result, my corporate is allowing NYC workers to wear shorts to work, which is fine by me. But record heat? It typically did not get much above 90 degrees here. Even today, we are sitting at 82 degrees (at 11am) with an expected high of 86. But we are still in this “heat emergency”.

Here in the south-central US (TX, LA, MS, AR) we’ve had a week of solid rain - anywhere from 10 to 15 inches total. Unheard of in August in my lifetime, except when a tropical storm comes inland.
