Here’s the deal. I’ve got a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I can put 20 gallons of 87 octane regular in it in under 3 minutes and that will get me about 400 miles down the road, give or take. So, someone build an EV truck that I can get 400 miles of charge in under 3 minutes and at the same price as a Ram 1500 and then I might consider it. Otherwise, it’s a high priced, virtue signaling grocery getter.
I think the EV pickups will be in high demand by the brokeback cowboys, pimps and Hollywood elite.
Please stop with the common-sense, cost benefit analysis, or I will report you to the forum moderator or worse.
NIO makes an EV that can go up to 600 miles on a charge and the “charge” takes only 5 minutes. That’s because the battery is changed or swapped robotically at a change station.
To be more than a city vehicle an EV needs to have an “honest” 350 mile range with, lights, AC and wipers on. And it need to be rechargeable in under 20 minutes.
Or it needs to be able to draw power through the road.
And I am an EV fan.
Not to mention that anything that breaks on your internal combustion engine vehicle can be replaced and it can be economically kept on the road indefinitely.
Electric vehicles require at least a $20k investment every few years.
Electric vehicles are virtue signalling for wealthy people.
