Arizona state House Speaker Rusty Bowers (R), who testified before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, said that the Constitution is “hanging by a thread” after he lost his bid for a state Senate seat.
Bowers in an interview with The Guardian described his phone conversations with former President Trump and Trump’s campaign lawyer Rudy Giuliani in the aftermath of the 2020 election, adding that the Republican Party has embraced “emotional violence.”
“The Constitution is hanging by a thread,” Bowers told The Guardian. “The funny thing is, I always thought it would be the other guys. And it’s my side. That just rips at my heart: that we would be the people who would surrender the constitution in order to win an election. That just blows my mind.”
Bowers also noted that he had to confront Trump supporters protesting in front of his home just days before the Capitol insurrection, referring to those individuals as “bullies.”
“I never had the thought of giving up,” Bowers added. “No way. I don’t like bullies. That’s one constant in my life: I. Do. Not. Like. Bullies.”
Bowers told the Jan. 6 panel in June that Giuliani never produced hard evidence of election fraud in Arizona, and he refuted Trump’s claims that he said the former president had won the state and the election was rigged.

And unfortunately, the American people were unable to save it from the deep state.
Work for a living, pissant.
Another “I’d rather go along with the Democrats and be popular than take a stand on principles” Republicrat. He won’t be missed.
I’m sure relieved to know that 500 riots by Antifa/BLM aren’t “emotional violence” but evidently mean tweets by Trump are.
How many of those “threads” that the Constitution hangs by did Bowers himself cut, eh?
“Constitution hanging by a thread”
Both houses have to approve an amendment by a 2/3 majority and then every state must approve it.
Most people don’t realize it, by the phrase “hanging by a thread” in relation to the Constitution is associated with a supposed prophecy in Mormon religion. Rusty Bowers is a former Mormon missionary. His views about this are probably more related to his Mormon religion than to his appraisal of present-day politics.
No worries Rusty!
You’re Dem pals will look after you! No doubt they’ve got a chair just for you at one of their prestigious think-tanks!
"Would you like fries with that?"
Why has Bowers never produced hard evidence that the election in Arizona was fair?
THIS is the problem. The burden of proof MUST be on those who claim an election is fair. No one should believe any election is fair until they are convinced otherwise.
Yes, its the other guys AND it's your (RINO) side!
I actually called his office about a year and a half ago on an issue. It was about 4:30 in the afternoon on a weekday, and I expected to get his voice mail. Instead, he picked up. We spoke for 10-12 minutes.
I let him know I wasn’t happy over the issue, and he empathized with me but said they just didn’t have the votes to override a threatened Ducey veto over it.
That being said, he let himself be used and acted like he was on a stage giving a performance in front of that illegitimate, treasonous committee.
Unforgiveable. The voters rightly, and soundly, let him know that.
So what does a politician legally voted out of office 2 weeks ago have anything to do with an event that happened 2 years ago?
Nothing!
“Priorities” I guess, to these turds.
I’ll never understand why Republican legislatures (state and federal) choose “moderates” and RINOs to be their leaders.
What does a 2-bit state politician from Arizona have to do with what happened in DC? Was he there?
