Former President Trump is considering filing a motion for a “special master” to review the evidence that the FBI obtained during its search at his Mar-a-Lago property last week.
Trump’s lead counsel for the matter, James Trusty, told conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin on his show on Friday that the former president’s legal team will “very soon” file a motion related to the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures.
Trusty said appointing a special master, which is an official selected by a judge to carry out a judicial matter on the court’s behalf, is rare in relation to search warrants being executed, but there needs to be “somebody in the middle” because the Justice Department (DOJ) should not be able to be “the guardians of what’s privileged or not.”
He said one of the benefits of appointing a special master is stopping the DOJ in inspecting the documents.

Why mulling? What are the possible downsides of having someone “independent” (if there is such a thing in government these days) looking? If the special master is not truly independent does it give the FBI a way to get things they clearly have no right to “laundered” by having a puppet special master declare them clean for the FBI to read/use?
I must have heard twenty times that President Trump asked for one to be appointed way back before the raid, and the request was denied.

Given all the BS we are hearing, this sounds like a grand idea.
It certainly seems as if Trump does not think he did anything wrong. Word is from those who have been around him Trump is not at all rattled.
You have to remember that the left thinks anything is “justified” to fight “fascism”, even if that means tilting at windmills like Don Quixote. We just see the insanity.
What I am concerned is the FBI or the DOJ destroying documents. If the special master would get custody of those documents not already destroyed, then they would be safeguarded
At this point over half of America would be inclined to believe anything “missing” or “found” could be planted, therefore there is reasonable doubt Trump did anything wrong.
This, of course, would require a change of change of venue motion. Given the overwhelming number of people who voted for Biden in the DC area, over 80%, it would certainly be reasonable to move any trial to a more neutral location.
