14% of the respondents are qualified to move from the pre-qual to the actual application!
Plus they can declare a “moratorium” on evictions any time they want so that tenants can stop paying and get free rent.
This isn’t about fairness. It’s about the gradual taking of private property and merging it into the collectivity. A kind of slow march to communism since they don’t have the courage to openly declare their intentions.
P.S. for those of you that dont’ know, they’ve already outlawed screening based on evictions (sealed these records) and now are getting ready to outlaw screening based on criminal activity.
Owning rental property in NY is now a game of Russian roulette, only the owner has no idea how many rounds are in the gun.
This is nuts. What is the point of maintaining credit history if one extending credit cannot check it?
Only 14% meet qualifications?
My goodness. Maybe it’s the uneven employment aftermath of Covid restrictions.
In other words, you don’t own your property, the state does.
Deep State doesn’t like competition.
They’ll be checking your social media accounts to see if you’re woke enough next.
Well, they (That being Obama and his commie buds.) need to find a cheap way to house the army they have brought in through the southern border.. I've heard it's about two million or so military aged men..
Time to vacate NYS and leave it to the illegals.
Many politicians have bad credit histories. Look at all the bounced checks in the house and senate. No wonder they want to outlaw checking a prospective tenant’s credit history.
In that case, I’d require the prospective ‘tenant’ pay at least half of the lease period rent IN ADVANCE. OR the tenant can provide me with a copy of their most recent credit report from one of the big three.....
Perhaps a new $1200 “application fee” would be in order.
This type of law *increases* rents.
After all, the renters who pay their bills each month would have to subsidize those who don’t.
We shouldn’t fall for the idea that this is a case of renters vs. landlords; the actual contention is between “renters with good credit” vs. “renters with bad credit”.
Looks like the landlord business is yet another thing Democrats have destroyed.
Shouldn’t banks be fined for checking a loan applicant’s credit history?
Gee, I wonder if banks will,be fined for checking loan application folk’s credit history?
As a renter I’ve never sought a place in any high rise or thru a commercial renting agency. Rather I look for the rentals by homeowners.. Even from landlords who don’t advertise and there are more than most realize who don’t.
The key of course is to have a good history and references from former landlords. Know your former landlords. etc. And take care of the rental as if it was your own properity.
