RUSSIAN officials shut down a key bridge to Crimea and fled over fears of an attack, according to Ukrainian reports.
The Crimean Bridge, which is also known as the Kerch Bridge, links the Russian mainland to the peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2014. Some Russians dubbed the road and rail structure "Putin's bridge" as it was designed to link Crimea to Russia’s transport network.
Tensions are running high in Crimea which has been the target of a number of attacks in recent weeks with air and military bases targeted.
Ukrainian TV channel 24 claimed yesterday (August 16) that Moscow had ordered the Crimean Bridge shut overnight out of fears of an attack from Ukraine, according to the Kyiv Post.
The newspaper cites unnamed sources as saying local Russian officials were expected to flee the peninsula on Tuesday night.
Kyiv Post said in a tweet: "According to the Ukrainian 24 channel, Russia shut down the Kerch bridge in Crimea until 6 a.m tomorrow, fearing a possible strike from Ukraine.

Autonomy has it’s drawbacks.
At least Russia can supply it by it’s mastery of the seas./sarc.
Putinistas in a month: “Crimea was a feint.”
The Ukraine lost the war some time ago. Russians have air superiority leaving Zelensky to ask for planes and saying he could train pilots to use them in 60 days. So Russia’s air superiority against Ukraine’s new trainees and donations. Uhmmm...no.
This propaganda is just spin.
agreed
Oooo… scary. 🤣
The video you posted was of Ukraine suddenly having one less UAV in its inventory. Just sayin’.
They got themselves into this mess. Can’t blame NATO for expanding, right? Put them in a corner? Too many pundits say just that. Look at Russian history. Victims and aggressors equally. What did they do in Poland? Don’t you think the rest of Europe is wary? Just ask Finland and Sweden.
Help them bleed.
There’s plenty of resources to help everyone succeed over there, including human capitol. Too bad they’d rather kill.
Nice of your Putin to expose his Kerch Bridge air defenses for the U.S. and NATO spy plans and satellites tonight. Just like Putin did for the Moskva.
Do you think the Russian retreat from Nikolaev, Kiev, Snake Island, etc. are actually ‘goodwill gestures’ and not clear cut evidence of Russian failures? Do you recall Putin telling the Spanish PM in 2014 that if he wanted to he could take Kiev in “two week”? Do you think he didn’t realize he was wrong, or that he just doesn’t really want to capture Kiev and instead to drag out this war for months?
And Russia is going to attack Poland, Finland, and Sweden,?,
With what???!
I don’t think so
“Russians have air superiority”
Correction: HAD.
Russia is now evacuating their aircraft from Crimea to the Russia air bases at Yeysk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Krymsk. Aside from the bases at Kacha and Belbek (Sevastopol) there’s nothing on the apron at any other base in Crimea.
Even the Dzhankoi helicopter base has been evacuated.
Wow they lost the war sometime ago but no one informed reality.
