Those taking the German government to task over the ongoing gas crisis have been branded the “new enemies of the state” by one government minister in the country.
An ostensibly “centrist” minister in Germany has branded those looking to hold officials accountable for their chronic mismanagement of the country as the “new enemies of the state”.
The minister — who is a member of former chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party — made the claim as authorities in the country begin to fear significant backlash for gas shortages in the winter, with one official saying that he is now expecting riots to occur if and when people are no longer able to heat their homes.
According to a report by broadcaster NTV, Herbert Reul, who serves as the Interior Minister for the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has now labelled members of the public challenging the extremely poor handling of Germany’s energy, cost of living, and COVID crises by the political class as “enemies of the state”

Enemies of the state ? Is that the best Germans can do?? Heck we get the “Domestic Terrorists” label by our DOJ and FBI for parents of schoolkids and conservatives.
For about six weeks, this BS has been going around in Germany. Not necessary the police suggesting anything...just the ‘Protection of the Constitution’ (their version of FBI) crowd talking about populist uprising stuff over the energy mess.
First, there’s no doubt that agent provocateur’s now exist in Germany...from Russia, and lobbyist groups with agendas. Some are right-wing...some left-wing.
Second, there is a true fear existing that not enough natural gas will be around by mid-winter....affecting industry to a great extent, public facilities (like theaters) and private homes.
Third, the energy grid situation is crapped-up, with a strategy that goes back twenty years. You can lay blame at environmentalists, politicians of all groups, and the news media who refused to ask questions.
Fourth, if you add up what my heat/electrical situation will be in the spring of 2023....it’s probably 250-percent of what I paid in 2019 (before Covid). That said, I’ve got a tight house, new electrical items with less wattage used, and a new gas furnace in the basement. I can’t use the chimney because it was sealed for new electrical wiring to go throughout the house. My bill will be survivable....for a lot of people, it will be up in the 3,000 Euro range and hard to cover.
So yeah, I expect some rowdy crowds to be out and complaining over the mess, and the politicians who guided everyone to ‘clean’ energy and no nuke power...deserve some harsh criticism for they’ve done. Resolving or fixing this now? Too late, and that’s really the tragic part of this discussion.

That’s a year bill (3,000 Euro) for power/heat. It’s worse, if you are purely electrical heat. Even today, news guys got around to a heat-pump situation....saying with rising electrical rates 37-Euro cents per KwH...that heat-pump in a full-house might run up to 3,000 Euro for heat/cooling alone.
Last week, there was hype that not enough natural gas would flow (probably toward Jan/Feb), and your furnace operations might shutdown...so you’d have to reset it and hope that the flow catches up. Based on the reserve-chatter...I think they have enough natural gas to run business operations and normal home temp’s....for half the winter, then run into trouble later. A lot depends on the weather...mild winter or full-up arctic winter.
